A well-established non-profit mental health organization is seeking Peer Support Specialist to work with individuals experiencing mental health issues, substance abuse, and homelessness. The Peer Support Specialist foster connections with clients and their support networks to facilitate the client's journey towards recovery. Additionally, they offer case management and counseling services to aid in the process.


The base pay for this position is $22 to $24 per hour. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer. This is a temp-to-perm role; you can gain access to company benefits, paid time off, and more


Responsibilities:

  • Offer peer support services and counseling to individuals coping with chronic mental health conditions, trauma, and/or substance use.
  • Draw upon personal experience of overcoming mental illness to provide support, guidance, and inspiration to those facing similar challenges with chronic mental illness, trauma, and/or substance use.
  • Aid individuals in reaching their personal recovery objectives through the use of strength-focused methods.
  • Develop Wellness Recovery and Action Plans (WRAP), safety plans, and crisis intervention strategies to support individuals in attaining their personal recovery objectives.
  • Participate in staff meetings, case conferences, and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Engage in supervision meetings to assess client advancement and refine case management tactics.


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must have lived experience with substance abuse or mental health issues
