They are responsible for ensuring accurate documentation of recipe builds, cooking instructions, program economics, and packaging requirements. Additionally, they collaborate closely with various teams including Culinary, Supply, Technical, Sales, Marketing, and Commercialization to manage and improve process documentation.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Communicate and coordinate information and activities to facilitate efficient product development and changes.
- Ensure critical path development stage gates are met, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.
- Liaise with suppliers to assist in sourcing new ingredients.
- Assist the Culinary team with product development, including market research studies.
- Cost new products developed by the culinary team.
- Work closely with the technical team to ensure development projects comply with brand policies and quality requirements.
- Facilitate the handover of new and reformulated products into the business.
- Translate sales briefs and prepare product presentation packs for internal and customer presentations.
- Co-ordinate new product samples, manage sample calendar, and ensure timely delivery.
- Assist in customer presentations on and off-site as needed.
- Act as a direct liaison with customers on projects.
- Design, execute, and analyze experimental approaches for product design.
- Participate in new packaging design and testing.
- Organize travel testing for new packaging formulations and communicate results effectively.
- Manage the change log process for the New Product Development team.
- Organize relevant samples for artwork, taste panels, and nutritional analysis.
- Continually improve new product development documentation.
- Conduct root cause analysis and resolve development issues or product improvements when required.
- Provide full training to Technical and Operations on new products.
- Supply relevant product information for post-launch review.
- Assist in inventory control of new product raw materials.
Experience / Education:
- Experience in the direct-to-consumer business model for fresh prepared meals and meal kits.
- Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of experience in a chilled food manufacturing environment.
- Certification and training in OSHA requirements or expectations, HACCP, and/or Food Hygiene.
- Experience with data and trend reports.
- Familiarity with Genesis for running nutritional and allergen reports.
