Financial AnalystThis position reports to the CFO. Primary responsibility is to work with CFO in developing and maintaining models in conjunction with Institutional Research, Enrollment Management, Student Experience and others to use for budget development and forecasting future years revenues and expenses. This position will work with the CFO and divisional budget managers to develop and maintain the models supporting the position and operating expense budgets and projections. Projections include operating budgets, full financial statements and financial ratios for multiple years. Budget development includes separately budgeting for the Statutory and Private sectors as well as reporting on the consolidated budget and projections. Works as part of a Financial Analyst team to ensure that all monthly budget variances are tracked and included in ongoing projections and forecasts; while at the same time ensuring that all software systems and models are up to date. Performs analysis, reconciliations and prepares other reports as needed.Salary: $99,224-$104,937 AnnuallyEssential FunctionsWork with CFO, Institutional Research, Enrollment Management, Student Experience, Academics, University Advancement and others to develop and maintain all revenue modelsWorks with CFO, Financial Analyst and divisions to develop, project and forecast all revenue and expenses quarterlyDevelops the budget for approval by CFO and Cabinet for presentation to the board of trustees for approval at the May meetingMaintains the separation of Statutory and Private budgetsProjects the Financial Statements and Ratios quarterlyAssist Controller in the update and maintenance of the cash projection modelingAssists divisions with budget analysis and reportingDesigns and maintains models to evaluate ROI impact of new programs and initiatives and ensure accountability to the expected ROI going forwardAssists in the preparation of Board related communications and meetingOther Duties & ResponsibilitiesCross-train with Financial Analyst to run and analyze monthly closing reportsAssist with year end audit reconciliations and analysis as neededOther duties as assignedSupports and assists in creating intersections for faculty, staff and students that will assist in transforming people's livesSupports and assists in creating an evolving culture of mentoring and rich engagement opportunities for faculty, staff, and studentsMaintains a commitment to mentorship, intersections and belonging with a high degree of cultural competence and respect for a wide range of identities and experiences, therefore welcoming and supporting all faculty, staff and students and expanding access to the AU experienceMaintains a safe working environment within and around their facilities and associated equipment and supplies including, but not limited to, obtaining Safety Data Sheet (SDS) information pertaining to any hazards associated with their work environmentParticipates in all required assigned training, including safety training and will comply with safety rules, regulations, and protocolsEffective written and oral communication skillsContributes to the overall success of the University by performing other duties as assignedConfidentially & Accuracy: This position has access to all account balances and student record information. This position is subject to continuous interruptions and requires the ability to maintain concentration and focus along with a pleasing dispositionSafety: Participate in safety training and comply with safety rules, regulations, and protocolsPerform additional duties and assist with special projects as assignedQualifications-Education & Experience, Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesFormal Education: Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree required.Experience: 5 years of budgeting, modeling and projecting experience requiredKnowledge: A working functional knowledge of Accounting and ERP Systems such as STC BannerDemonstrated knowledge of Accounting Principles (GAAP) and ProceduresUnderstanding of financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for leadershipSubstantial working knowledge (education or work-related experience) of Project Management methodology and/or Business Process Analysis is essentialA working functional knowledge of Project Management Software such as Asana and AchieveItDemonstrated knowledge of strategic planning best practicesUnderstanding of higher education administration operations and best practicesAdvanced Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)Additional Knowledge/Skills: Work/school records would confirm the existence of superior skills or attributes in the following areas: sound judgment, discretion, dependability, organizational and interpersonal skills, professional work output, energy and enthusiasm, ability to interact with all levels of the AU community and constituents, diplomacy, initiative, function independently with only occasional review and direction. Candidate must possess the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, open office environment and prioritize.
