Werfen is seeking a Production Chemist for our Manufacturing Department in Waukesha. The Production Chemist will perform tasks associated with manufacturing donor compatibility testing products. If you are interested in helping to save patient lives, this may be the role for you

Production Chemist (Chemist / Biochemistry)
Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities:
- Performs processing of raw material through the techniques of defibrination, affinity chromotography, cell culture, etc.
- Prepares chemical solutions including weighing and measuring of chemicals (both liquid and dry) and mixing components according to the SOP
- Performs limited chemical analysis of product including pH, conductivity, electrophoresis, protein concentration determination, titration, etc.
- Performs routine up keep and maintenance of the lab including recording temperatures, cleaning, maintenance, and disposal of contaminated waste
- Accurately completes paperwork with minimal corrections
- Timely entry of Time and Materials into ERP.
- Keeps complete, legible, current, and accurate records of all weights, measures, techniques, and procedures followed or performed in a notebook, form, or batch record.
- Assists in troubleshooting problems which occur in the production flow
- Following applicable laboratory SOPs, OSHA regulations and GMP regulations, applicable laboratory OSHA regulations with respect to chemical hazards, blood-borne pathogens, etc.
- Assists in the training of new employees.
- Manufactures ELISA plates and Microsphere based products using the appropriate equipment.

Qualifications
Minimum Knowledge & Experience required for the position:
- Willingness to work with human blood and blood products
- Responsible to follow and promote the use of safety measures
- Interacting cooperatively and positively with co-workers and accepts direction well from superiors.
- Bachelor‘s degree (BS/BA) from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in general laboratory techniques (reagent preparation and measurement)
- Experience working with automated filling equipment, a plus
- Ability to follow procedure and conduct documents following GMP/GLP
- Involvement in continuous improvement
- Providing assistance with any other duties appropriate to increase the flow of work.
