Senior Staff AccountantExcellent opportunity for a skilled accountant with strong ambition to contribute meaningfully towards shaping and optimizing the systems and processes of a fast-growing company.The Senior Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for the completion of many administrative and analytical tasks that help to monitor and maintain the financial health of the business. This position will work closely with the Director of Finance to ensure accuracy and efficiency throughout the department. This role will support employees in charge of accounts receivable and accounts payable; will oversee the month-end closing process; and will provide regular timely reports to the Director of Finance, CFO and Company leadership. This role will interface with internal stakeholders within Purchasing, Business Development, Technologies and Operations to develop and maintain key business processes; and will also require regular contact with external auditors and management of external audit processes. The Senior Staff Accountant is a key contributor to developing synergies with internal business partners and external stakeholders.Candidates with sound corporate accounting experience and principles, who aspire to make an impact in the trajectory of both their company and their career, are encouraged to apply. Compensation and exact title will be commensurate with education and experience.Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrepares financial statements to summarize and forecast the company's financial statusProduces and manages balance sheets and analyzes future earnings and expensesAssists with management of accounting, auditing and budgeting within the organizationAssists with preparations for, and hosting, auditsWorks to identify and reconcile accounting inaccuracies or imbalancesEnsures compliance and prepares reports according to applicable government regulationsUses SAP accounting software to maintain records and prepare reportsDelegates accounting tasks to junior accounting staff with provided training and mentorshipCoordinates with and prepares reports for CFO and Director of FinancePresents recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policiesContributes to overall department goals by accomplishing accounting tasks as neededResponsibilities may increase in scope to align with company initiativesPerforms other duties as assigned.Required Knowledge and SkillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsHighly skilled in math, accounting and financial processesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsDetail oriented and highly organizedSkilled in time management and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlinesExcellent critical thinking skillsSolid understanding of GAAP and applicable regulationsExperience with SAP preferred, but not requiredCommunicates effectively and maintains productive relationships with coworkers, clients, and other contacts outside of the companyAccepts feedback from a variety of sources and constructively manages conflictProficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related softwareEducation and ExperienceBachelor's degree or equivalent in accountingMinimum of 5 years of proven accounting experience, including overseeing budgets and expenses and developing internal processesSAP Concur software integration experience preferredCPA certification desiredExperience with management/cost accounting advantageousPhysical RequirementProlonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computerMust be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a timeAdheres to consistent and predictable in-person attendanceSern employees accrue over four weeks of paid time off annually.
