This role will be a good mix of Network and Systems engineering with some focus on the Linux side (with some Windows) and doing some networking (IP routing protocols). This is a smaller environment so an Engineer that is comfortable wearing a lot of hats.
This position will be remote but our client wants somebody local to the Phoenix area.
TITLE: Network/Systems Engineer
LOCATION: Phoenix, AZ (hybrid) - mostly remote with going onsite minimal (couple days a month)

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux operating systems, software, hardware, and related systems
- Experience, building and deploying Linux servers and applications for authentication, DNS and monitoring. Such as FreeRadius, Bind and other service provider applications.
- Automate system administrative tasks using scripting languages such as Bash or Python to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
- Participate in the design and implementation of new technologies to support the Windows server and workstation environments.
- Design and implement networking technology delivery systems that are secure and reliable including disaster recovery architecture, operations and highly available server and network architectures.
- Hands-on experience with Virtualization technologies, Proxmox, VMware ESXi, vSphere, vSAN, vCenter NetApp.
- Experience implementing, operating, and supporting Microsoft 365 tools at both user and admin levels.
- Support network protocols such as: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, HSRP, VLAN, TCP/IP, MPLS, STP, IPv4, subnetting, routing and switching.
- Participate in on call rotation, normally once every 4 weeks for escalations.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Practical experience related to LAN, WAN, WLAN, VLAN, VPN, MPLS and high availability/multipath/redundant routers, switches and firewalls in large Service Provider network.
- Experience level knowledge of IP networking, L2/L3 network protocols, LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, routing, SNMP, Radius.
- Comprehensive knowledge of L2-L7 technologies-VLANs/VLAN tagging, VTP, Spanning Tree, EtherChannel, and Port Channel.
- Experience implementing monitoring solutions such as LibreNMS, Cacti, Weathermap and Zabbix. Experience with SNMPv1-3 monitoring and management tools
- Experience implementing and managing Microsoft SharePoint with an understanding of overall architecture, hierarchy, and administration.
- Understanding of networking concepts and Windows Server Operating Systems
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with network configuration automation (Scripting with Pearl/Python/Bash)
- Ability to manage and prioritize tasks to ensure optimum productivity and complete assigned tasks within tasked schedules.
- Stays current on the latest industry technologies, trends, and strategies; brings forward solutions and serves as a Trusted Expert.
- Certificates such as CCNA, RHCSA, RHCE, LFCS, MCSE or similar preferred.
- Additional experience with Palo Alto Networks, Juniper and Cisco, with certifications would be a significant bonus.
