The Studio

Studio Kosma is a Los Angeles based design firm focused on the built environment. We design livable luxury residential interiors and conceptual boutique hospitality spaces. We have restaurant and bar projects in Los Angeles and the Bay Area. Junior Designer Role

The primary role of this Junior Designer is to support the principal designer on multiple residential and hospitality projects. This is a robust role requiring a variety of responsibilities and tasks on a range of diverse projects.


Job functions include

  • Collaborate with Kara to support residential and restaurant projects in all phases.
  • See concepts through to completion in all design phases.
  • Assist with sourcing for both residential and commercial projects.
  • Maintain awareness of scope, budgets, and project timelines.
  • Create and manage drawing sets, including plans, elevations, and details.
  • Use proficiency and precision to create and manage specification binders and material schedules.
  • Create and manage working documents and presentation materials.
  • Execute Studio Kosma’s standards in all deliverables.
  • Receive and provide constructive feedback.


Qualifications 

  • 3+ years working in an interior design role and a degree in interior design/architecture.
  • Ability to form trusting relationships with clients, teammates, and external partners.
  • A flexible, positive attitude, and the ability to process change calmly and effectively.
  • Ability to focus on multiple, concurrent projects in various stages of development.
  • Strong knowledge of the design process, including FF&E, furniture and specifications, color & materials.
  • Refined visual presentation skills as well as excellent written and verbal communications.
  • Fluency in AutoCAD and SketchUp are required. Studio Kosma uses a Mac platform.
  • Canva, Zoom, and Google Suite knowledge a plus. 
  • Strong freehand and computer skills.
  • Skilled in visual research, material sourcing and specification, custom furniture design, and furniture sourcing.
  • Strong vendor base knowledge for residential and commercial products.
  • Project experience that includes the submission of detailed drawing sets, including but not limited to specifications, technical production, and basic residential & commercial code knowledge.
  • Excellent note taking and follow through.
  • Restaurant design experience a plus.
  • Construction administration experience and/or project management experience a plus.
  • Design aesthetically compatible with Studio Kosma.


Compensation

This is a part time hourly employee role requiring a three day per week commitment. Compensation includes $30-40/hr commensurate with experience and skill set.

PTO and paid holidays.
