Job Description:

Job Summary:

The Behavior Technician provides direct one-on-one behavioral interventions to clientele and

implements behavior programming as outlined in the Behavior Support Plan. The Behavior

Technician is responsible for direct implementation of skill-acquisition and behavior-reduction

plans to assist in teaching communication, social and daily living skills and reduce problematic

behaviors in home and community settings of clientele. Behavior Technicians will utilize

techniques based upon the science of Applied Behavior Analysis under the direct supervision

of the supervising Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

Essential Job Functions:

Service Responsibilities
  • Implements behavioral interventions and follows the treatment plan goals and interventions utilizing sound judgment and seeking out appropriate consultation as necessary.
  • Collects data as outlined by supervising BCBA and may conduct indirect functional assessments and provide support as necessary.
  • Effectively communicates with treatment team members regarding client progress as instructed by the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Qualified Healthcare Professional (QHCP).
  • Collaborates with family and treatment team members to provide effective treatment.
  • Able to objectively analyze behavioral situations and react appropriately and ethically in response to problematic behaviors. May provide consultation in person and/or via telephone during times of escalated behavior and maintains availability to respond to such situations.
  • Ability to maintain full-time caseload and meet minimum production requirements as outlined by supervisor to include timely preparation of required documentation.
  • Provides all services and functions within the ethical standards and code of ethics as indicated by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, as well as within the system's Code of Conduct.
  • Represents the system and the individuals served in a positive manner to clients, staff, community agencies, and community members.
  • Treats all persons served and their families with dignity and respect.
  • Adheres to all company policies for employment and service delivery.

Documentation Responsibilities
  • Performs general clerical duties including maintaining accurate client records.
  • Collects, records, and summarizes data based on observable client behaviors.
  • Assists in maintaining up-to-date graphs, summarizing and calculating data utilizing technological programs.
  • Writes progress notes, program updates, creates session materials and stimuli, and maintains program books as needed/appropriate.
  • Adheres to all confidentiality maintenance requirements.

Other Responsibilities
  • Attend and actively participate in supervision sessions with supervising BCBA/Director of ABA Services.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with behavioral intervention strategies, learning theories and instructional methods.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ethics, laws/regulations of acceptable behavior interventions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills needed to manage escalated behavior situations and/or problematic behavior.
  • Demonstrated professional communication skills including the ability to read and write coherently and cohesively in a neat, grammatically correct manner.
  • Demonstrated strong time management skills demonstrating the ability to complete all required paperwork in a timely manner as well as manage multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated computer skills sufficient to utilize all relevant databases and complete appropriate reports and paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a positive attitude in the work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective communications and working relationships with other associates, clients, family members, outside entities and the general public.
  • Must pass a background check to include criminal history, abuse/neglect records, and driving record.

Experience and Education Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a high school diploma or national equivalent.
  • Experience with developmental disability and mental health populations preferred

Supervisory Requirements:
  • None.

Employment Requirements:
  • Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect and fingerprint check.
  • Completion of New Hire Orientation at the beginning of employment.
  • All training requirements including Relias at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter.
  • Current driver's license, acceptable driving record and current auto insurance
  • Willingness to complete certification requirements relating to the certification of Registered Behavior Technician as outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
  • This includes completion of 40 hours of training and completion of a criminal background check as well as obtaining a passing score on both the Registered Behavior Technician Competency Assessment and the Registered Behavior Technician exam.

Physical Requirements:

ADA Consideration - Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (exists up the 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (exists 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Repetitive movements of hands, fingers, and arms for typing and/or writing during work shift.

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
