SOFTWARE ENGINEER Position Summary Reporting to the Director of Engineering, VETRO, Inc. is looking for a Software Engineer with full-stack experience to join our engineering team. You will be responsible for designing and implementing the features and platforms that power the global VETRO broadband platform in order to deliver the next generation of GIS fiber management software. About the VETRO Broadband Platform The VETRO Broadband Platform is built on open-source libraries and tools hosted on AWS cloud infrastructure. We use technologies and services such as Node.js, Vue.js, React.js, NATS, and PostgreSQL. Our software development practices are built on Agile Development Methodologies. What you will work on: Design and develop features for our web based fiber management platform and enable our customers to design, sell, and manage their next-gen broadband networks. Technically challenging GIS-based systems including state of the art tile servers, fiber network models, and interactive maps. All built on open source libraries and tools. Web services that extend the VETRO platform to work with other critical systemsSupport the production systems that serve our global platform by triaging bugs and application performance issues, and periodically participating in on-call rotations Why this position may interest you: You thrive in a collaborative, positive, and supportive environment, and want to help build our culture of learning.You are excited about working with small teams and early stage companies You want to work on meaningful projects that have significant social impacts What you need to bring: 3-5 years development and shipping cloud-native applications and platform services to production 3+ years experience working with Contemporary Javascript frameworks (e.g., Vue, React) or similarNode.js, Golang, or PythonLarge relational datasets Solid understanding of cloud services and their best practices (AWS preferred)Ability to break down product requirements into deliverable softwareEnthusiasm to work on new things and a readiness to jump in and contributeA self-directed mindset, eager to collaborate with other engineers, but comfortable driving your own work effortA laser-focused devotion to building toward an outcome - able to frame the problem, craft an elegant solution, and continually test results against the desired outcome What skills and experience are helpful: Having worked with spatial data (for example via PostGIS)Experience with real time data streamingKnowledge of how and when to use various persistent and ephemeral data storage technologiesAn understanding of frontend mapping technologies (Leaflet, MapboxGL.js)Effective working within Agile Development Methodologies All successful VETRO employees embody: Strong communication, high attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to work Flexible and adaptable with a willingness to create positive change Think critically and have a bias for action and problem solvingBe an inquisitive lifelong learner with a desire to continuously learn new skillsHave an ability to make decisions and move forward with limited information - an ability to “operate in the gray” If you feel like you can make an impact, even though you don’t meet all the above requirements, please apply.
