Position Overview:

The Occupational Therapist (OT) will assess, plan, and implement rehabilitation programs aimed at helping patients develop, recover, or maintain the skills necessary for daily living and working. The OT will work with a diverse range of patients, including those with physical injuries, developmental disabilities, or cognitive impairments, and will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to create personalized treatment plans.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Assessment: Evaluate patients’ conditions, abilities, and needs through interviews, observations, and tests. Identify specific challenges in their daily lives and work activities.
  • Treatment Planning: Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessments and patient goals. Set realistic, achievable objectives aimed at improving functionality, mobility, and independence.
  • Therapeutic Interventions: Implement therapy programs that may include exercises, activities, adaptive equipment, and environmental modifications to help patients enhance their physical and cognitive abilities.
  • Patient Education: Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic techniques, adaptive equipment, and strategies for performing daily tasks. Provide training on home exercise programs and preventive care.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track and document patient progress throughout the treatment program. Adjust therapy plans as needed to ensure continued progress toward goals.
  • Collaboration: Work with a multidisciplinary team, including physical therapists, speech therapists, doctors, and social workers, to provide comprehensive care. Participate in case conferences and collaborate on discharge planning.
  • Adaptive Equipment: Recommend and train patients in the use of assistive devices such as wheelchairs, splints, and other tools to aid in daily tasks and mobility.
  • Discharge Planning: Provide patients and caregivers with long-term strategies and follow-up care plans upon discharge to ensure sustained progress and functionality.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all treatments and practices meet regulatory, licensing, and accreditation standards. Adhere to ethical guidelines and best practices in occupational therapy.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Licensure: Current state licensure as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Certification: Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • Experience: 5 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist (new graduates are encouraged to apply). Experience with [specific patient population, if applicable] is a plus.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in documentation and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Compassionate Care: Dedication to providing compassionate, patient-centered care with an emphasis on improving quality of life.
