Underwriting TechnicianSompo has a unique opportunity for an Underwriting Technician in our Energy team. This position will support the North America Energy Team to support our Underwriting Team and service insureds. The individual is expected to actively develop their knowledge and understanding of the fundamental skills and functions of the underwriting support process, underwriting process, and risk analysis.Location: This position will be based in our Morristown, NJ office. We strive for collaboration, which is why we offer a work environment where our employees thrive and develop long-lasting careers.Our business, your impact, our opportunity:What you'll be doing:Partner with underwriters in the end-to-end processing of new and renewal businessEvaluate new and renewal submissions against prescribed criteria to determine completeness; documents outstanding items and include them in communication to an underwriter for review.Assists in the follow-up and securing of outstanding items from the broker.Prepare documents for ratingAnalyze loss information and prepare summary documentationReview policies and forms for accuracy and completeness.Communicate regularly with brokers to assure customer serviceWhat you'll bring:3-5 years of related underwriting support experience (preferably Energy)Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint);Excellent communication (both written and verbal) skills;Strong analytical and organizational skills;Team player willing to contribute to the whole of the companyMust demonstrate the ability to multitask and work under limited supervisionSalary Range: $55,000 $80,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.At Sompo, we recognize that the talent, skills, and commitment of our employees drive our success.
