Our current Division of 5 faculty members, an MFM-nurse practitioner, and 3 MFM Fellows has specialized in high-risk pregnancy care and imaging, driven by our mission to improve the lives of our pregnant patients and their children at our sites across the MetroHealth System and our Cleveland community. We are seeking a physician who will practice clinically at one or more of our sites and will participate in fellow, resident, and medical student education. There are also ongoing federally funded and industry research projects and protected time can be given to a candidate interested in joining these investigations. A successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and teaching skills, will be Board Certified or a candidate for Certification in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio. This position is anticipated to be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Department of Reproductive Biology at Case Western Reserve University. Academic rank and dedicated research time will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The population we serve is diverse, both socially and economically. Our faculty is committed to caring for all, and to improving the health of our whole community. We are also actively involved in the teaching of MetroHealth’s MFM fellows, Ob/Gyn residents, and Case Western Reserve University medical students. MetroHealth is home to one of the oldest Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship programs in the country. In addition to being a Clinical Center within the Eunice Kennedy Shriver NICHD-MFMU (Kelly Gibson, MD - PI) and NuMoM2b-HHS2 (Jessica Pippen, M.D. - PI) Research Networks, the Division’s ongoing funded research includes studies regarding hypertension, preterm birth prediction and prevention, neonatal body composition, labor physiology, and evaluation and implementation of safety bundles. Our perinatal database is the oldest ongoing electronic database in the country – extending back to 1974. Our electronic Medical Record extends back to 1999, and our Clinical Informatics Department has partnered with large vendor datasets such as Epic’s Cosmos and TrinetX. Each of these provides significant opportunity for research addressing pregnancy complications, generational impacts of health disparities and social determinants of health. MetroHealth also has boasts a nationally recognized Population Health Department which partners with researchers interested in reducing health disparities. Last year, the Population Health Department brought $26 million of grants to MetroHealth. We are a level 1 trauma center. The MetroHealth System is redesigning our campus with an innovative transformation plan to exceed the ever-changing needs of our patients and community programs. This billion-dollar transformation is the largest public construction project in Cuyahoga County and one of the largest in the nation. In November 2022 the MetroHealth community moved into the new hospital, The Glick Center, featuring 270 private rooms and new state of the art facilities to support our patients and staff. In January 2023, we opened the new Labor and Delivery and NICU. A new outpatient pavilion is on schedule to open in 2024.
