GENUS is a landscape architecture + planning studio based in Des Moines. Our mission is to create artful landscapes that function - with emphasis on creating places that make a positive impact on people's lives and our planet. Design pursuits range from master planning to design for rural + urban spaces, parks, multigenerational campus environments, streetscapes, green infrastructure and public art collaborations across the Midwest.


CURRENT OPPORTUNITY

Registered landscape architect or civil engineer with demonstrated experience leading design-focused projects, managing project documentation, project finances and internal project teams. This is a leadership track position for the right person.

CORE STRENGTHS + EXPERIENCE DESIRED

  • Ability to think critically and take ownership in projects.
  • Success designing and detailing beautiful spaces.
  • Experience performing construction observation and administration
  • Well-rounded communication skills, with ability to lead internal and external communications for projects.
  • Ability to mentor + value team members [this is particularly important]
  • Interest in being part of leadership team for project pursuits, project oversight and business goals
  • Can self-edit work and collaborate within small and large group settings.
  • Capacity to lead meetings, including stakeholder input and board presentations.
  • Strong understanding of construction detailing and plant material knowledge.
  • Capacity to work across multiple representation platforms, including hand graphics [ sketches and renderings], AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Bluebeam and SketchUp.
  • Competence with grading, horizontal control and drawing management/organization is required.
  • Sense of humor
  • Interest in pursuit of new projects.... possess an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Eye for detail and pursuit of craft in design and built work.
  • Professional registration and a minimum of 7 years' experience. Candidates with 10+ years' experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience with Deltek Ajera - extra credit given
  • Bachelor’s or graduate degree in landscape architecture from an accredited program, required.

Salary range $80 -125K, depending on experience and qualifications.
