Robert Half is partnering with local SoCal/ San Diego based company that is looking for Director of Information Technology for a permanent placement opportunity. This position is full time with full benefits and is being offered as hybrid onsite for 3 days per week/ 2 remote in San Diego. Ideal candidates will be creative IT problem solvers that enjoy working in a dynamic and rapidly-changing work environment while leading IT infrastructure technology team (5-7) that focuses on Systems and Networking. Managers with IT budgeting experience, working for enterprise sized companies, looking to move into a Director role are encouraged to apply.


The Director of IT will be responsible for the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of the I.T. infrastructure environment, including but not limited to servers, storage, Firewalls, AWS (hybrid cloud), SD-WAN, for multi-site operations in a regulated environment.

  • Maintain and monitor the I.T. infrastructure environment to ensure minimal interruption and maximum productivity.
  • Lead high complexity projects and teams to successful completion.
  • Manage IT budgets for department and projects.
  • Stay current with the latest technologies and directs research on potential technology solutions.
  • Identify and recommend alternative methods and technologies to meet business needs.
  • Maintain asset management for I.T. hardware and other equipment and maintains inventory as needed to ensure proper hardware/software licensing, maintenance, and support.
  • Participate in and/or lead the negotiation and administration of vendor and outsourcing contracts and/or maintenance and service agreements.
  • Participate in the development of a comprehensive I.T. disaster recovery plan to ensure business continuity/survival, minimize damage, and facilitate coordination.
  • Retain staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting and training employees, maintaining a safe and secure work environment, and providing opportunities for personal and professional growth.
  • Cross train staff in current knowledge and skills to ensure necessary coverage and support at all times.
  • Assist in developing, maintaining, and supporting I.T. policies, procedures, and best practices that ensure compliance for an Enterprise regulated environment, as well as architecture security, change management, and audit recommendations.
  • Partner with Application and Security Leadership.
  • Travel to SoCal site locations as needed.


Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or related technical field OR equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience considered in lieu of a degree. Healthcare experience or regulated experience is a plus.
  • Palo Alto, VMware, AWS and/or network administration certifications a plus.
  • Ten (10) or more years experience in systems and network administration or related field, with knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures related to P.C., server, and network technical support.
  • Strong technical knowledge of current LAN/WAN hardware, protocols, and standards and proven experience in I.T. infrastructure planning and development.
  • Previous experience managing a technical team.
