Principal Azure & AI - Microsoft Fabric Architect Experience Level: 10-12 Years Location: Atlanta, GA Duration: 12+ months Client is seeking a Principal Azure & AI Architect to lead the design and hands-on implementation of advanced analytics solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Azure AI services. This role involves cross-cloud data integration (Databricks on AWS), modern data architecture, and Generative AI delivery across Microsoft's data platform. Responsibilities Serve as Lead Architect across Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Data Engineering, Data Factory) and Azure AI Services. Design data ingestion and transformation using Python/PySpark into OneLake. Implement OneLake Shortcuts to blend data from Databricks on AWS without data movement. Integrate Azure AI (e.g., Document Intelligence, Azure OpenAI) for document extraction, enrichment, and GenAI use cases. Orchestrate AI pipelines and load enriched data into OneLake for downstream use. Develop final reporting and dashboards in Power BI using Direct Lake or best-fit connectivity. Apply Azure Well-Architected Framework and Fabric best practices for security, cost, and performance. Configure access controls, governance policies, and cross-cloud integrations. Document architecture, decisions, and implementation for production readiness. Requirements 10-12 years in IT, with 5+ years as an Azure Data & Analytics Architect. Deep hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, Lakehouse, Data Engineering, and Data Factory. Strong experience in Python (Pandas, PySpark) for ETL/ELT and AI/ML workflows. Proven work with Azure AI (Document Intelligence, Azure OpenAI, RAG patterns). Experience configuring OneLake Shortcuts and integrating Databricks on AWS. Strong understanding of Delta Lake format and Databricks on any cloud. Expertise in Power BI, including advanced data modeling and Fabric connectivity modes. Knowledge of Azure security and governance (Key Vault, Entra ID/Azure AD, networking). Excellent communication and leadership; capable of independently driving technical delivery.
