Job OverviewThe Medical Assistant assists nurses with the delivery of patient care by maintaining clinic flow and obtaining routine clinical information on patients. Performs / assists with routine physical care of patients, obtains and maintains clinic supplies, provides light clinical assistant.Monday through Friday, 8AM-4:30PM.ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities:Introduces self to patient/family placing them at ease with upcoming procedures, exams, etc.Obtains patient vital signs (height, weight, temperature, head circumference 24 month of age) and charts in the EMR.Recognizes variance from normal and reports to RN.Demonstrates an understanding of the policies and procedures required by the job including but not limited to: Escorts patient/family to exam room/ancillary departments.Prepares patient for exam or procedure (e.g. gown, shorts, casting needs).Competent in application of orthotics with RN supervision.Assists RNs and physicians in cast removal and application procedures.Assists physicians while examining patients when RNs are unavailable.This is not an all-inclusive list of this job's responsibilities. The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.QualificationsRequired:High School Diploma / GEDBasic Life Support (BLS)Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)Preferred:Two years' experience as a Medical AssistantOne year electronic medical record experience and/or medical terminologyShriners Children's is an EOE/Drug-Free, Smoke-Free Workplace.
