Alafia Haven is a Texas state-licensed General Residential Operation (GRO) located in Odessa, Texas, dedicated to providing exceptional care and support for children and youth.
Our Home offers a comprehensive range of treatment services, including support for Emotional Disorders, Intellectual Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Primary Medical Needs. With a focus on holistic care, we maintain qualified nursing staff around the clock to monitor health conditions and administer necessary medical interventions, ensuring the well-being of every child in our care.
Alafia Haven serves girls ages 5-17 in a safe and nurturing environment. Our single-family residential home is equipped with a state-of-the-art fire sprinkler and alarm system, prioritizing the safety and security of our residents.

Responsibilities:
- Supervise and assist residents during meal preparation, housekeeping tasks, personal hygiene, grooming, and other activities as needed.
- Maintain records as required by policies and procedures, including documentation of training classes, physical observations, significant observations, and any behavioral management programs.
- Provide transportation to residents as necessary.
- Supervise residents in recreational activities both on and off campus.
- During evening hours, contact appropriate administrative staff in case of emergencies.
- Make written reports of significant incidents occurring during shifts.
- Act as an informal advocate for residents.
- Correct unacceptable behavior and help residents adhere to house rules.
- Provide first aid and assist with medical needs of residents.
- Complete weekly meal monitoring sheets, assigned chores, and special requests.
- Assist in maintaining necessary supplies for residents, such as grooming and cleaning supplies.
- Aid in general upkeep and repair of the facility, including cleaning vehicles, ensuring sufficient gasoline levels, and cleaning facility grounds/buildings.
- Maintain acceptable attendance, dress codes, personal hygiene, and adhere to work policies and procedures.
- Participate in annual training sessions.
- Be knowledgeable about and follow TDFPS licensing standards.
- Respect children's rights and ensure an environment that supports their privacy, safety, and well-being.
- Communicate respectfully with residents, peers, management, and leadership, fostering collaboration, transparency, and solution-oriented dialogue for a harmonious work environment.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Administrator.
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience as direct care staff in a childcare setting or General Residential Operation (GRO).
- Experience working with children diagnosed with behavioral and emotional disorders preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Ability to assist residents with meal preparation, housekeeping, personal hygiene, grooming, and other activities.
- Support the agency's culture, growth, and success through communication, accountability, and positivity.
- Ability to remain clear-headed and decisive within the scope of the position.
- Work efficiently both individually and as part of a team.
- Willingness to accept feedback and demonstrate a commitment to learning, growth, and improvement.
- Serve as a positive role model with excellent leadership skills.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Excel, the Internet, and other software applications.
- Possess effective oral and written communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a professional team.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid Texas Driver's License (Type C).
- Access to reliable transportation.
- Valid/current auto insurance (for employees who transport clients).
- Three employment references.
- Cleared criminal background check.
- Cleared TB test results (current within 12 months prior to employment).
- Cleared drug screen.
- Reliable mode of contact (cell phone)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
