Job Summary
McKee Foods is seeking a Refrigeration Mechanic to join our Facilities Maintenance team. Maintain, repair, and install all equipment related to the utilities business unit which may include refrigeration, compressed air, dry air, steam, condensate, heating, and air-conditioning systems (this list is not all-inclusive).
Required Qualifications
- Must have or be able to obtain refrigeration certifications within 12 months
- Overall good work record (which includes attendance, safety, job performance, flexibility, and team behaviors)
- Demonstrated ability to promote continuous process improvement and LEAN principles
- Provide reference points for installation of structural and functional components
- Conduct basic structural installation such as installing mounting brackets and hangers into floor and walls of building
- Operate lifts and hoists and aligns components into position
- Complete basic maintenance functions: screws, bolts, rivets, welds and brazes parts to assemble structural and functional components such as motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring harnesses, valves, pumps, compressors, condensers, heat exchangers, and pipes
- Cut, thread, and connect pipe to functional components and water or power system on premises
- Pump specified gas or fluid into system
- Interface with PLC and Wonderware to monitor, operate, and set-up equipment parameters
- Calibrate automated blow downs, meters, and laboratory equipment
- Perform calculations on volumes and flows, heat loads for rooms and processes
- Monitor and test operations; read gauges and instruments; adjust mechanisms such as valves, controls and pumps to control level of fluid, pressure and temperature in system
- Perform and document chemical testing on water support systems for steam and HVAC systems
- Maintain all necessary equipment logs and computer files
- Conduct training for new employees as needed
- Perform preventive and reliability centered maintenance on all equipment in the utilities business unit
- Dismantle malfunctioning systems and tests components
- Replace or adjust defective or worn parts to repair systems
- Insulate piping, components, cabinets, and various other equipment within systems
- Install wiring to connect components to electric power source
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical failures
- Ability to read mechanical and electrical blueprints
- Demonstrate good communication skills
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years refrigeration maintenance experience or degree in a related field.
- Previous mechanical and/or refrigeration training
- Previous welding experience
- Experience with Manufacturing software (Wonderware) and Computer Maintenance Management System (Maximo)
