Part Time Fire Safety Lab Technician

divh2Fire Safety Program Assistant/h2pAssist with the day-to-day operations of the fire safety program, fire safety complex, mobile training units, and remote facilities in accordance with established policies and procedures. Support the maintenance, organization, and appearance of the Fire Training Grounds, fire apparatus, and fire equipment, including routine preventative maintenance of tools, equipment, and facilities used in instruction./ppEssential Functions:/pulliAssist with the application and adherence to policies and procedures while on the Fire Training Grounds or when using Public Safety facilities or equipment. Assist with managing the logistics of equipment being requested for training and education within the NWTC District. Ensure the safe operations of equipment and facilities as required by state, industry, and OSHA standards./liliAssist with support of logistics related to equipment requests for training and education within the NWTC District, ensuring safe operations in accordance with state, industry, and OSHA standards. Support maintenance and inspection of fire facility and apparatus, equipment and tools, testing fire pumps and aerial devices, ground ladders, SCBA and ensure the compliance of NFPA and WI SPS 330 required by the state./liliAssist with routine maintenance and inspections of fire facilities, apparatus, equipment, and tools, including basic testing of fire pumps, aerial devices, ladders, and SCBA. Help ensure compliance with NFPA and WI SPS 330 requirements, including fit testing for students and instructors. Work with instructors to ensure lab equipment supports curriculum needs./liliAssist instructors in ensuring lab equipment aligns with curriculum needs./liliProvide input and support in areas of capital and operational planning, such as gathering vendor information or researching equipment./li/ulpMinimum Qualifications and Work Experience:/pulliAssociate Degree in Fire Science or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in Fire Service./liliTwo years of related experience as a professional or volunteer in fire service./liliMicrosoft Office Suite and database information systems./liliKnowledge of Wisconsin Fire Service training and certification standards./liliMust hold a valid drivers license and be insurable under the districts standard insurance policy terms./liliThorough understanding of current fire codes, statutes, guiding WTSB directives and IFSAC requirements./li/ulpPreferred Qualifications:/pulliClass A CDL, Combination Vehicle endorsement preferred/liliCertified in the State of Wisconsin as a Firefighter Level 1, Firefighter Level 2, Fire Emergency Services Instructor 1 (FESI-1) preferred/li/ulpSkills and Abilities:/pulliStudent Success: Demonstrate behaviors and actions that support student recruitment, retention, and student success initiatives./liliValues: Demonstrate behaviors and action that support the Colleges values/liliCollaboration: Demonstrate behaviors and actions that create respectful environments and services for all, and the ability to work effectively across differences in background and experience./li/ulpPhysical Demands:/pulliMobility: Ability to move around the campus to attend meetings and events.
