The Process Engineer will work to continuously improve the manufacturing processes to provide better machine reliability, product quality, lower costs, and better use of assets. The person in this position will work directly with mill operators, engineering, maintenance, management, and production control to accomplish these tasks. Successful candidates will develop the skills to fully support their assigned areas.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Identifies, develops and evaluates plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities related to manufacturing and processing issues.
  • Assesses the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluation tests, products, or equipment when necessary data is insufficient or confirmation by testing is advisable.
  • Assists management in developing action plans related to manufacturing process standards and improvements.
  • Initiates projects to reduce costs, improve yields, and increase productivity.
  • Reviews customer complaints related to the manufacturing process and recommends corrective action.
  • Assists in review of Accounting and Engineering standards to determine variances between projected and actual cost.
  • Provides technical support to all equipment and processes in the facility.
  • Support the Lean Sigma program
  • Maintain an awareness of safe work practices and prevent conditions that may result in an unsafe situation or harm the environment.

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Bachelors/Masters of Science degree(s) in an Engineering discipline
  • Experience in the manufacturing of rolled metal products preferred.
  • Lean Sigma knowledge / experience preferred. Certification a plus.
