Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and Repair: Conduct on-site diagnostics to identify mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in heavy construction equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and graders. Perform repairs and component replacements to ensure equipment operates efficiently.
- Maintenance: Execute routine and preventive maintenance on a wide range of construction machinery to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect equipment for signs of wear or potential problems. Conduct safety checks and ensure that all equipment meets regulatory standards and operational safety requirements.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, parts used, and service reports. Update and manage equipment logs and communicate any significant issues to project management.
- Parts Management: Identify and order necessary parts and components for repairs and maintenance. Manage inventory levels of frequently used parts and tools to ensure timely availability.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while working on-site. Promote a culture of safety by ensuring proper use and maintenance of equipment and tools.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other mechanics, equipment operators, and project managers to coordinate repair schedules and support project needs. Assist in training and mentoring junior mechanics as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in diesel mechanics, automotive repair, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in repairing and maintaining heavy construction equipment, with a strong background in the heavy civil construction industry.
Skills:
- Proficient in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems in construction equipment.
- In-depth knowledge of safety practices and regulations specific to heavy civil construction.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in various field conditions, including remote job sites.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with project teams and stakeholders.
