Program Underwriter

An A+ rated property and casualty insurer is seeking a Program Underwriter - Commercial Auto. This is a hybrid role. Candidates can reside in any of these locations: Wilkes-Barre, PA, Parsippany, NJ, New York, NY, Rancho Cordova, CA, Boston, MA, Philadelphia, PA, Orlando, FL, Atlanta, GA, Chicago, IL, Dallas, TX, Scottsdale, AZ.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for building program business specific to commercial auto.
• You will be responsible for oversight of and auditing of Program Administrator partners.
• You will work closely with both the internal Underwriting team as well as external Program Administrators/MGAs.
• Assist with Underwriting Guidelines and alignment with established and evolving Guard guidelines.
• You will coordinate and participate in Program Audits and produce audit reports (about 12 per year).
• You will Facilitate meetings with internal and external participants and assist with demographics and ad hoc portfolio management projects and analysis.
• Quarterly travel to program administrators
• Not responsible for portfolio management

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of heavy commercial auto underwriting experience – tow trucks
• Program experience with a carrier
• The ability to work as a team player
• Strong oral and writing skills
• Strong technical skills such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Forms
• Ability to effectively manage a full workload while exhibiting good judgment
• Ability to effectively communicate externally and internally. Externally with experienced program managers and senior underwriters, internally with the Product Leads, Accounting, Claims, Actuarial, IT, etc.
• Assist with demographics and ad hoc portfolio management projects and analysis
• Willingness to travel to assigned Program Administrator locations
• Assist on program audits and audit reports
• In addition, Commercial Package, Professional Liability, and Surplus lines underwriting experience would be a plus
