Warehouse LeadThe Warehouse Lead provides direction for Material Handlers and balances workflow for the distribution center.Core ResponsibilitiesAssist shift supervisors in pre-shift meetings and paperwork necessary during the shiftPlan and execute timely inbound and outbound deliveries, prioritizing resourcesResponsible for escalating any issues that arise during the shift, if necessaryEnsure that employees are working safely, following all work rules, and that all required PPE are always being wornAct as backup Wave Planner when necessary; these duties include (but are not limited to) allocating orders, releasing work to the warehouse floor, and ensuring truck turn times are within acceptable levelsEnsure that proper people are in the appropriate areas on the correct equipment to evenly complete work in queueOther duties as assignedQualificationsHigh school diploma or general equivalency degree required.One year of related experience is required. Previous lead or supervisory experience is highly desired.Experience in a role managing multiple priorities is highly desirableExperience with warehouse management systems is required. Candidates must have strong computer skillsMust have strong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.Work Environment & Physical DemandsRegularly standing, walking, riding, carrying, twisting, bending, balancing, seeing, hearing, and handling paperwork.Regularly lift objects weighing up to 60 lbs.Smithfield is an equal opportunity employer committed to workplace diversity.
