THE POSITION

We are seeking Corrections Officer 3s to join our team and ensure operations at State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Greene are conducted efficiently and effectively. This position provides supervisory work in subordinate staff responsible for the care, custody, and control of inmates on an assigned shift in a State Correctional Facility.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Corrections Officer 3, you will play a crucial role in ensuring subordinate staff are in compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations governing all aspects of care, custody, and control of inmates in an institutional setting. You will plan, organize, assign, and monitor correctional officer duties, which includes inspections of all areas to ensure all officers are alert and diligent in the performance of their duties. As a supervisor, you will provide training to new subordinate staff, and ensure that trainees are utilized at their appropriate level of training phase.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work schedules will be determined at the time of hire with rotating days off.
- Salary: Applicants who are new to the Commonwealth will start employment at $52,306 annually (before taxes).
- This position is eligible for retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Corrections Officer 2 (Commonwealth job title); or
- Four years of experience in corrections security work in a Pennsylvania state or county corrections facility. (Note: Persons seeking employment under this option will be required to successfully complete, or have completed, a training program conducted by the Department of Corrections.)
Other Requirements:
- Successful Completion of Basic Training in Elizabethtown, PA for all new employees.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
