Powercast Corporation is seeking a versatile and creative individual to join our team as an Industrial Design Engineer. In this non-traditional hybrid role, you will combine your expertise in Engineering and Industrial design to contribute to the design and development of our projects. You will be responsible for creating visually stunning and technically precise 3D models that meet the functional, aesthetic and manufacturing requirements of our projects. Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to conceptualize and develop innovative mechanical designs and solutions
  • Utilize 3D modeling software for mechanical design and engineering analysis
  • Apply 3D sculpting techniques and utilize organic modeling techniques to create complex shapes and surfaces
  • Work from 3D scans to convert scanned data into parametric models
  • Generate high-quality 3D models and renderings that accurately represent design concepts
  • Conduct feasibility studies and simulations to assess the performance and functionality of designs
  • Create detailed engineering drawings and specifications for mechanical components and systems
  • Iterate on designs based on feedback from cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Conduct tests and experiments to validate designs and identify areas for improvement


Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design or related fields
  • 2 years of experience in a related field
  • Technical Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360) for both traditional and surface modeling
  • Technical Proficiency with polygonal 3D modeling software (e.g., Blender, ZBrush)
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and best practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong artistic and creative abilities


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with high volume consumer electronics designs
  • Experience with various manufacturing methods (e.g. injection molding, CNC, sheet metal)
  • Understanding of how to marry organic, class A surfaces to mechanical understructures
  • Understanding of 3D printing and other rapid prototyping methods
