Underwriting Admin Assistant

Are you seeking a new opportunity where you can be part of a small team and grow? Our client is seeking a strong administrative assistant who would be interested into growing into an underwriting position in the future. They will teach you everything you need to know to be successful in the Commercial Marine Insurance world.
To be successful in this roll you will need to be organized, motivated, persistent, and helpful. You will be expected to place insurance coverages with their various Carriers, including Authorities. Your primary responsibilities will be to coordinate with agents and carriers to get insured's risk covered suitably.
Responsibilities:
- Train with experienced underwriters
- Educate Agents on coverage
- Prioritize, Review, and Manage requests for quotes
- Manage communication with Agents and Carriers
- Work closely with Agents to complete and compile necessary information
- Manage quotes and explain them to Agents
- Prioritize workload of New/ Renewal policies
- Submit Risks to Carriers
- Work with Carriers to find coverage for the insured
Skills/ Qualifications:
- Great communication and follow skills
- Commitment to want to continually want to improve
- Teamwork
- Drive for growing accounts
- A college degree
- Must have the ability to read and understand new subjects
- Must be capable to communicate professionally with partners to explain and request necessary information
- Must be courteous, ethical business manners and strong relationship skills
- The ability to work individually or as part of a team wit minimal supervision
- Organization and the ability to multi-task
You should be able to review submissions and work with agents after one month, manage submissions and quotes after three months, and independently place coverage of insured with Carriers after four months.
Salary: $40k - $45k
Hours: 8AM - 5PM Monday - Friday
