Indirect Procurement Manager

Decatur, AL

 

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Procurement Manager to join their team. The Procurement Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the procurement process, including sourcing, logistics, contract negotiation, and supplier management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supply chain management and possess excellent analytical and negotiation skills.


Responsibilities

- Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize cost savings and improve operational efficiency.

-Position responsible for assigned indirect procurement categories in the US region to include but not limited to MRO, Utilities, Energy, Chemicals & Services

- Source and evaluate potential suppliers, develop strategies including development and execution of clearly defined sourcing events, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier relationships

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of goods and services

- Monitor market trends and industry developments to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements

- Conduct root cause analysis to identify areas for improvement in the procurement process

- Ensure compliance with federal acquisition regulations and company policies

- Oversee inventory management and production planning to meet customer demand

- Collaborate with quality management teams to ensure supplier compliance with quality standards

-Use current spend information/data & business knowledge to identify sourcing projects for individual subcategories and develop an overall cost reduction plan

-Purchase materials in the assigned commodity portfolio, consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of the source and urgency of need


-Perform other purchasing duties, including bid tab creation, maintain PO/Proposal logs & folders and supplier set up in ERP Platform.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)

-Prefer CPP Certification

-Must have 5 to 10 years’ experience purchasing or managing commodities related to the Chemicals Industry

- Proven experience in procurement or supply chain management roles

- Strong knowledge of sourcing strategies, logistics, and supplier management

- Excellent negotiation skills with a track record of achieving cost savings

- Familiarity with federal acquisition regulations and quality management systems

- Proficient in using procurement software and tools, excellent computer skills using powerpoint, excel and word

-Prefer experience using SAP or an equivalent ERP business platform

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
