Key End Results:

1. Purchase assigned materials for relevant division ensuring maximum value for the company.

2. Establish vendor relationships and contacts that result in minimum inventory levels while meeting shop requirements.

3. Take a leadership role in representing the purchasing department to management in resolving purchasing related issues.

4. Coordinate with the other company buyers and be responsible for the information reported and obtained during the daily EMMS walkabout boards.

5. Process all Production Change Notices (PCN’s) in a timely and accurate manner.

6. Attend weekly Production Meeting and work on a timely resolution of any action item(s) that are assigned to purchasing.

7. Work with Quality Control in conjunction with the Director of Purchasing on any corrective actions issued to the purchasing department.


Relationships:

This position has external contact with vendors on price and delivery. Internal contact includes all departments within the division on parts, equipment, and expenditure issues.


Travel:

This position may require travel as needed by the company.


Education and Experience:

This position requires a four-year degree in Business or a related field with 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Special skills include understanding of electrical products and components. Other skills include knowledge of purchasing theory and negotiation principles. Equivalent combinations of education or experience may be substituted for the requirements listed above.


Primary Accountability:

1. Comprehend and follow procedures, standard practice instructions, prints, diagrams and other written and verbal instructions.

2. Prioritize and act on daily supply issues.

3. Expedite backorders and long lead time parts to ensure that delivery dates are met.

4. Participate in cost saving projects or strive to individually submit cost saving suggestions equal to or greater than annual salary.

5. Review material requirements planning report (MRP) at a minimum of once a week.

6. Assist with special work assignments, as assigned by the Director of Purchasing with appropriate instruction and supervision provided.

7. Comprehend and observe all safety and quality standards and participate in Kaizen and Area Focus Teams.

8. To maintain regular and timely attendance, to work in an efficient manner, and to work overtime when required, all sufficiently supporting the continuous manufacturing process.

9. Work in close concert with, and get along with, co-workers.

10. Other duties as assigned.
