The Head Cashier position is primarily responsible for the cashiers and for the receipt and disbursement of money for sales transactions for all Cashiers, assisting in daily operations at the register and que area of the store, and overseeing the training of all cashiers.Ensure each customer receives outstanding service.Leads by exampleGreet customers as they enter the storeTroubleshoot point-of-sale problemsEffectively train and direct the activities of cashiers assigned to the front end and set the standard for customer serviceEnsure that associates assigned to the front end consistently follow all policies and procedures including established safety procedures; communicate issues to managementPerform cash pulls, and make change orders per established policiesDaily ensure that merchandise displays in the front-end area of the store remain clean, organized and well-stockedEnsure housekeeping duties are performed daily (sweeping, cleaning windows, dusting, straightening merchandise, sanitizing work areas, decluttering bulletin board, etc)Ensures customer lines are managed; calling for backup cashiers to assist when lines exceed 3 or more customersEnsure returned merchandise is restocked to the correct product location on the sales floor daily and that all damaged and defective merchandise is properly labeledAnswer incoming telephone calls following company's guidelines, within 3 rings; professionally transfer the call to the correct person or department; immediately answer a call if it rings back; page over the PA system when necessaryTactfully and pleasantly work with customersMaintain awareness of all promotions and advertisementsPerform register sales transactions quickly and accurately per established cash control procedures and customer service guidelinesPerform other tasks as assigned from time to time by store managementSolicit customers to open an Ace Rewards card or setup a B2B account, issue receipts, refunds, credits or change due to customersAct as lead cashier with training and reviewing the work of cashiersPossibly assist with the work schedule of cashiersPromote Ace Rewards and B2B to all customers, and maintain all related suppliesAssist with online and curbside ordersConduct Cashiers meetings; provide training and development of new associates in the assigned departmentOrder and maintain all register supplies (bags, receipt paper, forms, pens, staplers,etc)Advise management when associates violate company policiesPossibly assist management in the interviewing of new cashiersRelay communication to associates from management and vice versaAssist Customers with complaints, unless they require a managerWatch for shoplifters and take action, in line with company policy, that will discourage shopliftingReview and follow company policies and proceduresPerform other assigned tasks as requested by managementProvide motivation and leadership to associates in assigned departmentAlways be patient and helpful under pressure with associates and customersCooperate with others and work well as part of a retail teamProvide and accept constructive suggestions and instructionsPrioritize work to keep the department on taskMaintain the queue including beverages and snack itemsCustomer satisfaction-orientedAttention to detailSolid team player with excellent interpersonal skills with a strong willingness to learnBilingual (Spanish) verbal and written communication skills a plusAt least 18 years oldExcellent problem-solving skillsKnowledge of company systems and proceduresPositive attitude401(k) BenefitsAce Hardware Employee PerksIn Store DiscountAccess to PerkSpot an online discount service Discounts for food, restaurants, cell services, electronics, entertainment, books, toys and more from well-known and local retailersPaid Time OffHealth, Dental and Vision BenefitsEmployee Assistance ProgramGet your steps in dailyShorter weekend and weekday hours compared to our competitorsFamily friendly environmentSchedule posted two weeks in advance, so you can plan aheadStrong training program that will empower each associate, all while growing their knowledge of the Hardware IndustryLifelong skills in "Do It Yourself" projects for your home or your family's homeEducational Tuition & Development ReimbursementAce Hardware is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
