This Director role is in the NGMC Engineering organization leading Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Data Science, Manufacturing Enablement and Integration & Test that supports the Microelectronic Design & Application (MDA) Operating Unit. This position is located in Linthicum, MD with employees in Annapolis Junction and Linthicum, MD.In this role, the Engineering Director will be responsible for the following:Lead the development and implementation of technical roadmap strategiesEnsure the business is appropriately staffed and enable resource sharing across multiple business areasIdentify and implement strategies to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the business of Engineering in collaboration with peersDrive engineering strategy and practices pertinent to all of the E&S NGMC portfolio, including but not limited to investments and talent strategyGrowing the headcount with continued, strong focus on retention efforts, engagement initiatives, and program executionDrive key talent development and workforce planning effortsElevate engineering rigor in key areas and overall process complianceDevelop and maintain critical skills plans and actions to support existing programs and AOP pursuitsPrioritize engineering investments aligned with strategic imperativesCollaborate with peers across the Division and Sector to eliminate roadblocks and advance initiativesKey attributes of the Engineering Director:Proven experience as a team player and collaboratorPrevious experience in People and Technical Leadership rolesVery strong engineering background in multiple program phasesSolid understanding of engineering process with execution experience across the program lifecycleProven experience in holding teams accountableServe as the day-to-day E&S focal point for the respective Operating Unit DirectorsCandidates must have exceptional leadership and teambuilding skills, strategic thinking, strong technical acumen, and the ability to lead multiple engineering disciplines across programs. The candidate will work with cross-discipline team members and therefore must have excellent communication skills, presentation experience and the ability to work seamlessly with a diverse community of engineers and managers to achieve the goals of the organization. The candidate must have the ability to build consensus and resolve conflict. The candidate must collaborate with business area leadership, and other functional partners to resolve complex issues in a timely manner to help meet program commitments. The candidate should always act with integrity, and with the highest ethical standards and treat people with respect. The candidate should develop trusted and valued customer relationships and communicate effectively, so that people throughout the organization feel engaged and connected to their work. The candidate should be able to travel 10% of the time to collaborate with our teams outside of their site.This position requires full-time work onsite at our Linthicum, MD location.Basic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or related technical fields with 10+ years of experience; a Master's degree in related technical fields with 8+ years of experience; a PhD in related technical fields with 6+ years of experience.8 years of professional experience in the defense or aerospace industries5 years previous experience in People and Technical Leadership roles5 years previous experience working in a technical roleExperience driving engineering processes for program performance and continuous improvement across the entire program lifecycleThis position requires the applicant to be a U.S. Citizen.Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance per customer's requirementsPreferred Qualifications:Advanced degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or related technical fields.Previous experience leading and managing within a matrixed organization, demonstrating the ability to effectively collaborate across multiple stakeholders and diverse sets of teams.Program management experienceSuccess as leader of large, multi-discipline, geographically dispersed organizationExperience managing large control accounts with accountability for scope, schedule, budget, and technical performanceExperience with product line management and product line engineeringProven success in creating and executing affordability initiativesSuperconducting or microelectronics domain knowledgeActive U.S. Government security clearanceSalary Range: $207,400.00 - $311,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
