McKesson Medical-Surgical Category ManagerMcKesson Medical-Surgical is seeking a Category Manager to join our team in Richmond, VA or within the East Coast region. As a Category Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the strategy and success of key product categories. The Category Manager is responsible for effectively managing assigned Rx categories to meet the needs of customers and sales while optimizing overall profitability of the product categories. This position will include significant project management and analytics support key initiatives within the broader Rx product portfolio; this will require collaboration with others in Category Management, Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Finance, Materials Management, and Operations teams. Develop category plans to execute strategy and manage projects as needed to deliver intended results. Conducts negotiations with suppliers to form contract terms and conditions that align with long-range category strategy. Builds and leverages relationships with external suppliers. Work involves significant analysis to identify financial profit levers for long range product category growth.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, justify, and promote strategies and tactics for assigned Rx product categories by performing comprehensive analysis determining competitive market factors, customer demand trends, industry issues and trends, GPO influence and new/potential technologies.Identify and select key trading partners by assessing their capability to further business and sales objectives.Responsible for supplier contracting process (Develop Requirements, Determine Strategies, Negotiations, Implementation, Managing ROI).Work closely with Marketing & Sales leaders to understand unique needs and challenges, determine customer programs, and define specific solutions and programs with key suppliers.Identify new product opportunities and work with Marketing to evaluate and introduce.Develop and implement category strategy plans.Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve supply chain efficiency, and facilitate cross-functional teams to accomplish objectives.Minimum RequirementsDegree or equivalent and typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience.Critical SkillsPrevious experience in planning, cost reduction and contract negotiations.Negotiates successfully in a business relationship.Analyzes data, market, trends, and more.Manages multiple projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem solving.Translates strategic vision into tactical plans and influence adoption of prescribed actions.Additional Knowledge & SkillsPharmaceutical or other healthcare industry experience preferred.Communicates effectively with a large variety of audiences.Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel- Pivots, VLOOKUP's and PowerPoint).Medical/healthcare industry experience preferred.Strategic aptitude.Excellent interpersonal skills and written/verbal skills.Ability to collect and analyze data.Solid understanding of supply chain operations, inventory and financial profitability levers.Education4-year degree in business, finance, marketing, or related field preferred.Physical RequirementsLarge percent of time performing computer-based work is required.We are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson as part of our Total Rewards. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
