Electrical Design Engineer

Position Objective:The Electrical Design Engineer will lead the design and delivery of reliable, efficient, and sustainable electrical systems for CloudHQ data centers across the North America and LATAM. Working across the full project lifecycle from master planning and concept design through construction, commissioning, and operational handover this role is critical to ensuring our facilities meet our and our customers standards of performance, resilience, and efficiency.You will partner closely with our customers, our architects, engineers, contractors, and CloudHQs Preconstruction, Construction, and Operations teams to deliver solutions that reflect our commitment to customer success, reliability, and technical excellence. This position offers the opportunity to directly influence data center design standards worldwide and help CloudHQ remain at the forefront of mission-critical infrastructure delivery.Responsibilities:Design ManagementLead (and be the single point of accountability for) the concept design of electrical systems with a focus on reliability, efficiency, and sustainability.Manage third-party consultant teams in developing detailed designs, ensuring continuous improvement to CloudHQs standard solutions.Oversee design deliverables, project specifications, schedules, and task allocations to ensure high-quality, timely output.Support campus planning, entitlements, design, and permitting processes from site acquisition through construction document delivery on multiple, simultaneous projectsProject & Stakeholder EngagementCollaborate closely with customers to integrate their technical requirements into CloudHQ data center designs.Partner with Preconstruction and Construction teams in bid reviews, contract awards, and construction oversight to ensure work meets specifications and offers best value.Liaise with global design colleagues to share best practices and ensure consistency of standards across all CloudHQ developments.Coordinate with the Operations team to ensure designs align with operational best practices and lifecycle cost efficiency. Gather performance feedback from active sites and incorporate insights into updated design standards.Innovation & Standards DevelopmentResearch emerging electrical and controls technologies, identifying opportunities for improvement.Contribute to CloudHQs global design standards, ensuring consistency across regions while adapting to local climate, regulatory, and operational requirements.Develop creative solutions and innovations to drive individual and team performanceIdentify and share lessons learned and integrate improvements into future projectsChampion CHQ initiatives on all projectsRequirementsEducation:Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.Experience:5+ years experience designing electrical systems for data centers or mission-critical facilities, including at least two years in a lead design role.Proven ability to manage external design consultants and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.Required Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:Deep knowledge of electrical systems in mission critical environments.Strong problem-solving skills with expertise in quantitative and qualitative analysis, and technical oversight.Sound decision making ability, combining independent judgement with expert input to make high-stakes decisions with direct impact to project outcomesFamiliarity with data center mechanical infrastructure and integration.Proficiency in design tools and documentation processes.Strong communicator with the ability to translate complex technical information for varied audiences.Effective influencer, able to build trust and align stakeholders toward a common solution.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a high-growth, rapidly evolving, and ambiguous environment.Strategic thinker with a continuous improvement mindset and ability to balance short term priorities with long term goals.Willingness and ability to travel locally, nationally, and internationally.Flexible and committed, with the ability and willingness to work extended hours when required to meet critical deadlinesAll candidates chosen for consideration must submit to and pass background checkAll employees hired must sign and adhere to CHQs Code of Conduct, and Employee Confidentiality AgreementLocation: Site-based in Ashburn, VATravel: Ability to travel to data center sites, client meetings, trainings or conferences as requested and required.
