You'll solve challenges, deliver solutions and develop new, efficient processes that make a direct impact on our customers' lives.What You'll Do:The Billing Specialist is responsible for billing claims to appropriate primary insurance companies (as well as secondary/tertiary on an as need basis) or governmental institutions.Candidates must be located in Eastern Time (EST) to support team collaboration and business hours.As a Billing Specialist, you will be responsible for:Determine primary and secondary insurance company responsibilityReview client charts to ensure accurate documentation and insurance provider responsibilityPush charts from funding system into billing systemPrepare and submit claims for portal, paper, and electronic processing to insurance companies or governmental institutionsBalance daily batches and run needed reportsPrint and scan proof of deliveries for each claimFollow up on previously billed claims as required by departmental needInvestigate and resolve billing errors and issues; rebill claims when necessaryContact insurances for billing assistance and claim resolutionWork with collectors, cash posters, and funding team when issues ariseAlert the Manager of Funded Billing & Cash Posting of potential billing/collection issuesUpdate account notes to document billing actions and expected outcomesResearch and stay abreast of state, federal, and third-party funding regulations for assigned accounts ensuring billing and payment practices comply with third party payer requirementsAct as a back-up to primary, secondary, and other billersProperly document processes so that others can reperform themProvide training to others in the organization to help educate employees on the billing processPerform various other tasks as assignedMinimum Qualifications:High School Diploma2 or more years medical billing experienceKnowledge of how payments are processed by insurance companies and an understanding of contractual adjustments and refunds preferredKnowledge of medical insurance claims procedures and documentation preferredWhat You'll Bring:Strong interpersonal and customer service skillsVerbal communication skillsTeaming skillsProficient in MS Office Word, Excel and OutlookAble to research medical billing information via the internetAble to work in and learn multiple systems as well as easily transition from one system to the next throughout the dayBasic data entry and word processing skillsApply independent judgment and manage confidential informationAbility to gather data and summarize informationRecord managementTime management skillsAbility to work at a desk for a prolonged period of timeAbility to work with interruptions in a fast-paced environmentWe believe in empowering individuals - including our own employees - to reach their full potential.
