Position: Supply Chain Applications Specialist

Location: Hybrid (M/F remote, T,W,Th onsite)

Duration: 25+ months, through June 2026

Job Description:

The Buyer position is responsible for providing high level purchasing services relating to the purchase of goods and services for the entire hospital system. This position sources and procures supplies and services to meet department demand in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner. The Buyer position performs complex procurement functions in compliance with policies and procedures, and state and federal laws. This position supports procurement activities for non-inventory, asset and non-asset inventories, non-clinical, clinical and ancillary departments across the system for hospital and non-hospital business units. The Buyer position maintains a high level of communication with customers regarding order status, backorders and sourcing information as it oversees the full Purchase Order Lifecycle, from requisition through payment. This position works closely with internal customers; Strategic Sourcing and Clinical Value Analysis, Supply Chain Operations and Accounts Payable teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3 years experience in sourcing and purchasing functions
  • Experience as a buyer using PeopleSoft's Purchasing module
  • Healthcare specific supply chain experience
  • Preferred experience purchasing for central supply, OR, med surg in a healthcare system
  • Strong excel knowledge (running reports, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, etc.)
  • Experience working with GHX (Prodigo) and/or Visiant a plus
  • Understanding of inventory management processes and workflows
  • Preferred familiarity in PAR/Periodic Automatic Replacement systems
  • Some report development / analytics capability

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, or related field
  • In lieu of Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of experience in addition to minimum experience required

  • Contributes to development of effective business decisions through clear, concise communication and reporting using data to support conclusions
  • Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations
  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security
  • Knowledge of a variety of technologies including PeopleSoft and Microsoft applications
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong listening, communications and interpersonal skills
