The eligibility list created by this vacancy may be used to hire other vacancies in the department. Basic Function: To perform janitorial and/or building guard duties in a Ramsey County facility, to include cleaning and maintaining public buildings and surrounding areas, controlling building entrance and exit, inspecting building areas, and making safety/security checks; and to perform related duties as assigned.Examples Of Work PerformedClean and maintain offices, workstations, restrooms, and other building areas to include cleaning and maintenance of floors, carpets, walls, windows, furnishings and other building fixtures by using a variety of techniques, methods, and equipment such as burnishers, buffers, shampooers, extractors, vacuums; ensure areas are fully stocked with essential supplies.Maintain areas in and around County buildings to include mowing, weeding, fertilizing and watering lawns and flowers, pruning trees and bushes, collecting and disposing of trash, removing snow and ice from sidewalks, sweeping ramps and plazas, and applying pesticides.Receive, store and deliver supplies; set up, move or store tables, chairs, and other furniture, possibly several times within one shift; and maintain tools, equipment and supplies used on the job.Inspect building areas and grounds to check safety and security measures such as locked doors and windows, fire hazards, trespass, unauthorized exit or theft, and slipping/tripping hazards. Operate electronic doors and elevators and record the distribution of security keys to staff.Answer phone calls and provide information to the public or refer calls to staff; and provide work direction to season employees. (The work assigned to a position in this classification may not include all possible tasks in this work and does not limit the assignment of any additional tasks in this classification. Finger printing: The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) and the FBI require the Property Management Department to submit fingerprint cards of new employees and to keep them on file for every employee that has access to areas where their databases or information are accessed, produced, used, or stored. Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA): Certification by the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) for authorized access to areas where the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) is accessed or CJIS information is stored is required after hire and the ability to maintain this certification every year.Minimum QualificationsEducation: High School graduation or equivalent. Experience: None.Exam/Screening Process InformationThe examination process will consist of the following section with each section weighted as indicated:Training and Experience Rating = 100%The examination for Senior Custodian will consist of a training and experience rating, comprised of the questions in the attached supplemental questionnaire. Not all applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will pass the training and experience rating. The rating on this supplemental questionnaire will depend on your answers to the questions do not mark see resume or see work history as a response. Failure to respond could affect your score and final rank on this examination.Eligible List: The names of all applicants who have submitted a completed application and passed the examination/screening process shall be placed on the eligible list for an employment opportunity as a Senior Custodian. This list will be certified to the appointing authority which may use this list to conduct interviews to fill a vacancy. Applicants will remain on the list for 30 days or until hired, whichever occurs first. A notice will be sent to applicants at the time the eligible list is posted. The applicants who pass the examination with a score of 65 or higher will be forwarded to the department for further consideration.Veteran's Preference: This is a classified position requiring an open, competitive selection process. Veteran's Preference points will be applied after a candidate passes the examination process.
