This is one of two newly created roles that report to the Chief Communications Officer for the City of Fort Worth, Texas. The Assistant Communication & Public Engagement Director: Strategic Communications supervises the team responsible for internal/external communications and graphic design, website team and translator/interpreter. In addition, the role will:


  • Play a key role in developing and implementing an integrated, comprehensive strategic communications plan to advance the City's brand identity, priorities and accomplishments, both internally and externally
  • Develop a broad understanding of City functions and initiatives to prioritize messages and manage consistent and aligned departmental output
  • Oversee content creation for various media and channels
  • Ensure communications strategies and outputs are consistent with the City’s strategic plan and vision
  • Foster a culture of transparency and collaboration; coordinate with department heads and Public Information Officers (PIOs) to streamline communications and increase engagement, in a decentralized PIO structure
  • Collaborate with departments to identify needs and solutions for complex communications problems
