Must have verbal, written and reading fluency in both English and Spanish to be considered for this position.Who We Are: Mental Health Support Services (MHSS) is the provider of mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorder services for children and adults in Chesterfield County. The Adult Mental Health Outpatient team is seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Clinician to join our team. We are a dedicated group of licensed professionals providing mental health counseling to adults 18 years of age and older. Team members apply individualized therapeutic approaches to a wide variety of mental health issues and challenges faced by Chesterfield County residents. While we offer telehealth services, this position does not currently include the option for a remote work schedule. Minimum Education and Experience: Master's degree in human services or related field; three years of experience related to assigned program; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Considerable knowledge and understanding of fundamental concepts of normal and abnormal human behavior, personality development, family and group dynamics; considerable knowledge of and an ability to apply a variety of psychotherapeutic treatment techniques/modalities; adherence to basic ethics appropriate for a professional helping relationship; knowledge of mental health diagnoses, assessment, and/or psychological and educational testing; some knowledge of consultation program; considerable knowledge of psychosocial history development; very good interviewing and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing. Computer proficiency skills; working knowledge of electronic health record systems. Demonstrated ability to lead others. Ability to provide focused counseling services preferred; skilled in the use of evidence-based treatment modalities such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Assertive Community Treatment (ACT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) preferred. Additional Requirements: • Must hold an active professional license in the State of Virginia (LCSW, LPC, LMFT) or be fully licensed within 6 months of hire. • Verbal and written fluency in both Spanish and English required. • Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required. Duties Duties include but are not limited to the following: • Provides short term therapy to address depression, anxiety, relationship, self-esteem, and a myriad of other concerns from a trauma-informed perspective while using evidence-based practices; • Develops and monitors clinical treatment plans to address identified needs and goals for provided services; • Stays up to date with current and new research and best practices in mental health treatment; • Conducts trauma-informed, evidenced based assessment and treatment services; • May serve as a lead worker to Clinicians, interns, etc. and assists in providing clinical supervision and training; • Ensures accurate and timely documentation is inputted in an electronic health record in accordance with state licensure, Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS), and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) standards for practice; • Participates in educational opportunities, review professional publications, and participate in professional or agency organizations/committees as requested; • Collaborates with treatment team regarding client referrals related to medication, hospitalization, or intensive specialized treatment; and • Performs other work as required.
