The State Group is seeking an EHS Specialist in the industrial construction industry to work from our Rochester, NY location. This is a permanent position onsite at one of our premiere manufacturing clients. The successful candidate will be involved with the safety management of our direct workforce and subcontractors and work closely with both State Group and the client's leadership teams.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Represent the State Group regarding Safety & Risk compliance and planning.
  • Assess and accept subcontractor safety plans.
  • Complete job site-specific safety plans and audits.
  • Develop action plans to address challenges and deficiencies.
  • Conduct accident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Identify and communicate safety trends and opportunities for improvement for management, field supervision, customers, and employees.
  • An active member of the TSG professional safety team.
  • Actively participate in establishing best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Provide timely responses to workers’ safety concerns.
  • Participate in project planning meetings, collaborating with construction managers and subcontractor managers.
  • Maintain health and safety communication structures.
  • Monitor all safety-related documents, reports, and issues.
  • Conduct site-specific safety orientations and training.


WHAT YOU NEED TO JOIN OUR TEAM

  • A degree in safety or a related field or equivalent experience is preferred. (3-5 years of verifiable construction safety experience).
  • OSHA 500, STSC, CHST, OHST, CHSC, GSP, ASP, CSP, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and conduct that sets an example of the core values of the organization.
  • Knowledge of safety policies and regulations.
  • Ability to train and communicate effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to professionally manage a fast-paced change-oriented environment.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel, and Word.
