We are looking for a QA/QC Manager who will have the opportunity to monitor and evaluate internal production processes, while also examining company products to ensure the team maintains a system of quality that meet Brask Inc. and the customer’s standards. You will also lead and develop a team of 8 to help ensure all QC, receiving & tooling is operating efficiently.

YOU ARE A HIGHLY COLLABORATIVE TEAM PLAYER who will dive into a situation and proactively be a part of the solution, from process/procedure creation or updating, to product inspection, and shipping and receiving issues. You have a steady and calm demeanor no matter the problem that might arise to instill confidence in the process & steps forward to create a good outcome.
YOU ARE SELF DISCIPLINED & PROCESS ORIENTED continuously working to achieve the highest level of quality standards. You maintain an organized system that helps you effectively prioritize your workload and the workload of others to ensure nothing falls through the cracks to ensure a successful product.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:
Within the first 30-60 days and ongoing:
Learns Brask Inc.’s mission, core values, services, and operational procedures.
Walks the plant floor daily with QC Inspectors reviewing parts, welds, fit-ups, etc. to ensure they are up to the company’s and customer’s quality standards and match the drawings, customer specifications, tolerances with the code, etc.
Shadows the Plant Manager when filling out daily reports to gain exposure to the QA/QC reporting process, including x-ray defects, visual inspection report, non-conformance reports (NCRs), etc.
Begins preparing for (re)certifications tests for PT, MT, VT, UT, PMI.
By 60 days, begins conducting monthly audits of written procedures to ensure quality compliance.
3 months and ongoing:
Shadows the Plant Manager and/or Floor Inspector during customer interactions, asking questions to gain a better understanding of how to handle a variety of different situations.
Is generating accurate and detailed NCRs on any product discrepancies, as well as creating Inspection Test plans (ITPs) independently, covering all the inspection points.
Meets with all direct reports to learn more about their capabilities, and areas for development and growth.
6 months and ongoing:
Is direct, honest, and fair when reviewing quality compliance, documenting non-compliance and determining the best way to minimize these instances, i.e. additional training for the team, clearer documentation on processes and procedures, etc.
Actively participates in pre-inspection meetings, reviewing the overall project specifications and ensuring that Brask Inc. and customer standards are met.
Is closing NCRs and captures the corrective and preventative actions and when needed and is ensuring all equipment is calibrated.
Begins to collaborate with the Plant Manager to set quality benchmarks on impactful quality KPIs, which could include NCRs for customers, rejection rates for x-ray defects, turnaround time for databooks, receiving department KPIs and measurable tool room inventory metrics.
12 months and ongoing:
Performs an annual NCR evaluation meeting and proposes corrective actions to help the company continually improve on procedures & processes.
Independently interacts with customer inspectors by scheduling, coordinating, and maintaining good standing relationships.
Presents best practices and outside industry knowledge to make Brask Inc.’s processes and procedures even better by doing the necessary research and partnering with other QA/QC managers to attain that knowledge.
EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
- 3+ year experience in a quality control role within a manufacturing environment highly preferred
- Highly skilled with various office equipment, computers and various programs including MS Outlook, Word, and Excel required
- Demonstrated experience writing reports, procedures, & SOPs in a quality control setting required
- NDE certification in PT, MT, VT, and UT highly preferred
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience required 3+ year experience in a quality control role within a manufacturing environment highly preferred
- Proven ability to problem solve and troubleshoot technical and operational issues required
- Experience managing a team of 3 or more direct reports highly preferred
- Experience managing a shop environment with tools and machines preferred.
