Grupo Herrera is a local, family-owned operation and an up and coming catering experience that’s in an exciting time of growth. The Herrera family made their first footprint in the Houston area when David opened a small Mexican restaurant in Cypress in 2006, Alicia’s Mexican Grille. David Herrera had a commitment to serving the Cypress area excellent food and was a huge presence in the restaurant, constantly greeting and thanking his patrons for their business. By 2016, he had opened 2 other concepts and had 5 locations serving Alicia’s fan favorites and ultimately became noticeable as Grupo Herrera Restaurants, Inc with a full Catering and Events department servicing all of Houston and its greater areas. Today, you can find him, his three boys, Dario, Ubaldo and Marvin, and his wife, Alicia, at any one of his many storefront locations.


We are seeking a Catering Captain, Hospitality Guru, Team Leader, and Service Extraordinaire to execute our events with an air of hospitality that is unusual and most memorable. We are looking for someone who has the following qualities:

You will be supplied excellent food and supported by a team of professional servers.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Thoroughly read and execute BEO instructions with an attention to every detail
  • Basic computer skills for occasional administrative duties
  • Build complete supplies lists that are necessary to each unique set of needs
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation as well as the integrity of all menu items by keeping them at the proper temperature and managing the consistency of sauces
  • Lead a team of servers to bring our guests a polished dining experience
  • Understand the hierarchy onsite at all times and prioritize the needs of event coordinators, venue representatives and any present leadership roles
  • Constant awareness of the needs and perceptions of all event attendees
  • Maintain a clean space in all food prep and dining areas at all times
  • Track and report your teams’ service hours
  • Maintain and care for equipment - keep track of all items by maintaining a regular inventory for the catering department
  • Communicate all necessary needs when items need to be replenished or repaired


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must have at least 2 plus years of experience in Banquet Management operations
  • An additional 3 plus years of previous Banquet experience is desired
  • Complete understanding of fine dining practices
  • Current ServeSafe Managers Certification
  • TABC Certification
  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency
  • Exceptional people skills
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be detail oriented, have excellent communication skills, impeccable decision-making skills, and the ability to perform professionally under high levels of stress
  • Ability to comfortably and professionally converse in Spanish and in English
  • Comprehensive food and wine knowledge
  • Computer skills are needed, including BEOs
  • Must be able to drive large vehicles without incident
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Must be able to lift minimum 35 lbs
