OVERVIEW:


As a Sr. Cloud DBA, you will join our dynamic Products and Services technology team and play a pivotal role in developing and managing complex systems at scale, with a strong focus on operational excellence. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the availability and optimal performance of various corporate applications by overseeing fast-paced, complex database environments. We are seeking a candidate with a deep understanding of SQL Database concepts, extensive experience with AWS Database services (primarily RDS), and a proven track record in database administration. Your technical expertise, coupled with autonomy and excellent interpersonal communication skills, will be critical in driving successful outcomes for our organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform standard DBA functions for our currently hosted SQL Server and AWS RDS technology.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to address specific business inquiries and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with other technology teams to enhance data models, assist developers with query tuning, and refine procedures and schemas.
  • Implement robust processes and systems to monitor data quality and system performance, ensuring production data remains accurate and efficiently available for key stakeholders and critical business processes.
  • Develop monitoring and performance insights dashboards, and create automated reports for efficient data analysis.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in real-time to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
  • Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems to maintain high availability.
  • Plan and execute backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data integrity.
  • Participate in new product design and business improvement projects, contributing innovative data solutions.
  • Optimize database performance and maintain data standards to enhance reporting and analytics capabilities.
  • Ensure proper data governance and quality across data repositories and schemas, and identify the best data sources for data pipelines to improve data trust.
  • Proactively optimize queries and tuning to ensure maximum data efficiency.
  • Participate in development activities such as PR reviews and contributions that impact the data layer of respective applications.
  • Ongoing efforts to maximize efficiency of performance against operational cloud costs.
  • Manage additional design, administration, and support duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 6 Years Relevant Experience.
  • Proven expertise in SQL Server Administration.
  • Extensive experience supporting operational and analytical relational databases, with a strong focus on cloud database services (RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, S3, Lambda, and Serverless Applications).
  • Demonstrated experience with Amazon Web Services (EC2, EBS, S3, etc.).
  • Proficiency in data design, data flow, and data optimization.
  • Highly skilled in utilizing monitoring tools such as Redgate, AWS CloudWatch, and SolarWinds.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, including query performance tuning, data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing (No-SQL experience is a plus).
  • Experience in developing and maintaining SSIS and SSRS packages or PowerBI is advantageous.
  • Experience in an organization with a key 24x7 reliance on databases is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and negotiation (business cases) skills.
  • Collaborative, patient, positive, and constructive approach when dealing with clients and business groups.
  • Exceptional standards of quality, accuracy, precision, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to think creatively and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or a combination of relevant certifications and job experience.
  • AWS Certifications are a plus.
