Social Catering Sales ManagerThe social catering sales manager bears the responsibility of promoting and coordinating events for both internal groups and external clientele. Their principal duty is to sell banquet food and beverage services, while their additional responsibilities encompass menu design, agenda formulation, and coordination of hotel meeting services. Further duties include scrutinizing contracts and fostering effective communication with hotel personnel before, during, and after events to guarantee an exemplary level of service. The social catering sales manager will also participate in site inspections, nurture robust client relationships, and collaborate seamlessly with the sales and catering teams. Special emphasis is placed on weddings, galas, holiday celebrations, and various other social gatherings.Responsibilities include developing and executing sales action plans to close on targeted accounts and/or business within a market segment, responding to incoming sales inquiries for the hotel within 4 hours of receipt, maintaining a balance of account maintenance and prospecting for new business, contacting representatives from respective market segments to solicit business for the hotel, adhering to the hotel's sales guidelines and booking profitable business based on need times including prospecting, outside sales calls, solicitation, site inspections, sales blitz, and presentations, establishing and maintaining existing accounts within your market segment, soliciting, negotiating and confirming new and repeat business through various efforts to maximize revenues to meet/exceed goals, using networking 'social media for business' tools such as LinkedIn to research existing & potential accounts, and developing new contacts for the hotel, entertaining potential clients/guests, making prospecting calls, developing and implementing creative sales strategy by analyzing historical, current and future hotel/market/account trends, participating in training, trade shows, field trips and community, industry and professional organizations to maintain high visibility in support of the achievement of sales and revenue goals, preparing creative ways in which to reach out to a potential client for future business, analyzing requirement of function, outlining available hotel facilities and services offered and quote pricing, assisting in planning and participating in sales blitz, obtaining reader board summaries from competition and prospect accordingly, consulting newspapers, trade journals, internet, etc., to learn of contemplative conventions and social functions and to learn about the market and trends, following through on leads from the group sales department, meeting or exceeding the annual sales goals set by the DOS/DOC/Budget including sales activity production, conferring with guest and hotel department heads to plan function details, such as space requirements, publicity, time schedule, food service and decorations, utilizing proper communication channels to inform operating areas of customer's contract needs and potential requests, preparing for and attending all applicable pre-cons and post-cons, arranging for VIP amenities to be delivered, checking on functions regularly as they are being executed for groups, preparing and sending advance brochures/menus to prospective customers, preparing and receiving cash deposits, billing and payments, managing the function book and adjusting space in order to ensure maximum potential revenue, selling liquor in accordance with state liquor laws, working with group sales and executive chef in menu planning to maximize revenue based on customer budget, relaying accurate forecasting information for rolling forecast, promoting employee empowerment, demonstrating positive leadership characteristics, which inspire employees, reporting all unsafe conditions immediately, participating in annual competitor survey, and completing other duties as assigned by supervisor to include cross training.Qualifications include a bachelor's degree and/or 2+ years of hotel sales experience, 1 year food and beverage experience, strong understanding of negotiation and interpretation of contracts, developed business communication skills, both written and verbal, understanding/knowledge of Microsoft office, confident and professional appearance, proactive sales approach, assertive and fast paced, driven to succeed, execute and support hotel customer service standards and hotel's brand standards, understanding of respective market segment, competitor's strengths, weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand, work well under pressure, time management skills, ability to communicate effectively with public and other employees, creativity in designing events, working knowledge of banquet department (sets, AV equipment, scheduling, menu planning), ability to design menus in conjunction with the culinary department to maximize operating profit, and experience with major hospitality sales CRM system, i.e. Delphi, Daylight and/or brand CRM such as Marriott CI/TY or Starwood ISAC is preferred.BenefitsDavidson Hospitality Group is an award-winning, full-service hospitality management company overseeing hotels, restaurants, dining and entertainment venues across the US.
