In order to be considered with internal candidates, please apply on the internal posting by clicking HERE.The starting salary for this position depends on qualifications and is as follows: Building Construction Inspector I- $32.31 - $37.15, Building Construction Inspector II- $33.92 - $39.01, Building Construction Inspector III- $35.62 - $40.96, Building Construction Inspector IV- $37.40 - $43.01.Technical work conducting building inspections to ensure compliance with existing codes, ordinance and statues. Facilitates the development of public trust and confidence in the City. This position is considered an "Essential Position" for the purpose of Emergency Management. Emergency duties will be assigned as needed. This position requires 24 hours a day, 7 days per week availability during City of Port St Lucie emergencies, as determined by City Administrators, Emergency Manager or City Officials.Essential DutiesThe following duties are illustrative for this position. Five (5) years' experience in construction, design or inspections of buildings as supervisor or contractor, and must possess a minimum of ONE valid building inspector certification or the ability to obtain certification within twelve (12) months of hire.II. Six (6) years' experience in construction, design, or inspections of buildings as supervisor or contractor, and must possess minimum of TWO (2) valid building inspector certifications.III. Seven (7) years' experience in construction, design, or inspections of buildings as supervisor or contractor, and must possess minimum of THREE (3) valid building inspector certifications.IV. Eight (8) years' experience in construction, design, or inspections of buildings as supervisor or contractor, and must possess a minimum of FOUR (4) valid building inspector certifications or the One and Two Dwelling Inspector Certification.Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License and maintenance of a clean driving record required.
