Our Client, a leader in commercial real estate and facilities/asset management is seeking to add a HVAC/Mechanical Engineer to their Data Center team in Lemont, IL. This individual will work with a team to assure upkeep and maintenance of a large 24/7/365 Data Center housing the world’s largest supercomputer and cutting edge technology. The schedule for this role will work a rotating schedule of 3/2/2 and requires flexibility during training. This role works 12-hour shifts with day shift hours of 6am-6pm and the night shift hours of 6pm-6am. This is a contract role paying $44/hr.

The key to this role is experience working in a HVAC environment including experience with chiller plants, cooling towers, and pipe fitting.

This role:

  • Uses advanced engineering skills to perform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs in a Data Center operation.
  • Delivers oversight and engineering expertise over mechanical/HVAC systems, including but not limited to: Universal Power Supply (UPS) systems, generators, chillers, Electrical Distribution, HVAC systems, Building Management Systems (BMS) systems, and CMMS Work Dispatching.
  • Operates, maintains, monitors, and performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on building equipment, which may include: mechanical/HVAC/plumbing systems, electrical/cabling, fire detection and suppression, life safety, lighting, temperature control systems, building management systems, and digital systems.
  • Manage a team to perform daily site inspections of all HVAC/Mechanical & Engineering (M&E) systems and technical equipment, including servicing and maintenance.
  • Complete assigned work according to established processes and procedures in accordance with Environment, Health and Safety Policies.
  • Ensure all safety processes and PPE requirements are followed. Also, ensure all regulatory requirements and quality standards are met.
  • Oversee third-party vendors, ensuring compliance with developed processes, procedures, and all applicable laws/regulations.
  • Accompany vendors on site visits on an as needed basis and ensure site standards are met.
  • Help create and develop work processes, Job Hazard Analysis reports, and SOPs for critical work with risk assessment.


Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in mechanical engineering – Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 3+ years experience in refrigeration and/or HVAC including experience with process controls, mechanical power transmissions, generators, chillers, chiller plants, cooling towers, and pipe fitting.
  • 1+ years experience working in a Data Center Environment and/or Mechanical experience working in hospitals or large facilities preferred
  • Certification or equivalent experience in one or more of the following: electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, plumbing, carpentry or engine repair.
  • Background or knowledge of the following: Universal Power Supply (UPS) systems, generators, chillers, Electrical Distribution, HVAC systems, Building Management Systems (BMS) systems, and CMMS Work Dispatching.
  • Universal CFC certification or EPA Certification Preferred
