Position Summary-

Based in Alexandria, VA they have introduced an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Finance Manager, a strategic team member and key support to the VP of Finance. This role will play a pivotal part in shaping their financial landscape, contributing to crucial areas such as cash management, financial reporting, business analysis, budgeting & forecasting, strengthening internal controls, and serving as a key liaison with their banking institutions.


Reporting to the VP of Finance, this fully onsite role will require a sound financial background, with the ability to navigate accounts, financial information, and key relationships.


Essential Functions -

Key Responsibilities: As a Senior Finance Manager, the primary responsibilities will include the following.


Cash Management:

  • Oversee company cashflow.
  • Verify Cash Receipts and Deposit Transactions.
  • Process timely payment of all vendor and other invoices – Checks, Wire and ACH payments.
  • Monitor cash balances daily and provide recommendations for investing idle funds.
  • Produce cashflow forecasts.
  • Coordinate periodic transfers of funds to/from appropriate accounts & entities.
  • Analyze financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.


Financial Reporting & Analysis:

  • Coordinate the preparation and review of monthly financial statements with their outsourced accounting firm.
  • Generate financial reports, analyze financial information, and provide recommendations to management.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis as needed to investigate budget variances.
  • Review and monitor restaurant budgets to ensure alignment with spending targets, identify cost-efficiency opportunities, and develop strategies to prevent or mitigate expense overages.
  • Prepare monthly financial dashboards including operational highlights, key performance indicators, and financial projections.


Accounting and Finance Policies:

  • In collaboration with the VP of Finance, develop and/or revise accounting and finance policies as needed.
  • Strengthen internal controls as the Finance function grows to protect the company.


Budgeting & Forecasting:

  • Manage the preparation of the annual budget and liaise with the restaurant and management teams to collect data required for budget calculations.
  • Monitor budget to ensure consistency with and support of strategic priorities and perform regular evaluations of actual-to-budget performance and recommend corrective action as appropriate.


Banking & Other Responsibilities:

  • Handle the opening & closing of bank accounts.
  • Business loan application, administration and payment process.
  • Credit applications for new vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Candidate Profile-

  • Bachelor’s Degree and MBA, in Finance or Business preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive Finance experience, preferably in the restaurant industry.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory/management/leadership experience.
  • Detail-Oriented - Has a keen eye for precision and can quickly spot errors or inconsistencies.
  • Critical thinker - Ability to look at the big picture and proactively develop a plan of action.
  • Bias toward action - Has a focus on progress rather than perfection. Breaks things into bite-sized pieces to make progress against larger goals.
