Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an electrical engineering, or 12+ years of relevant electrical experience.
  • Professional Engineering License.
  • 10+ years of experience developing design documentation (plans, specifications, etc.) for construction.
  • 7+ years of experience in Data Center or relevant Mission Critical design.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of critical data center electrical equipment.
  • Possess leadership and problem solving skills.
  • Be a motivated, highly dependable individual.
  • Ability to research new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
  • Detailed understanding of uninterruptible power sources, diesel generators, electrical switchgear, power distribution units, variable frequency drives and automatic/static transfer switches.


Contract Length

  • 6-months with the potential for extension or move to FTE.


Job Description:

As a Sr. Electrical Engineer you will be solve technical challenges related to design innovation, quality assurance, and continual improvement, for our rapidly expanding data center footprint. A successful candidate for this role will be able to demonstrate experience delivering novel design solutions in technically challenging situations at the scale and pace required by today's Cloud Computing and Artificial Intelligence (AI) market. This position is a 6-month contract with an industry leader in the E-commerce / Cloud Storage industry.


Under the direction of an engineering manager, the Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the following:

  • Conceives initiates and leads projects with widespread impact on infrastructure design, innovation and implementation.
  • Decompose complex problems into straightforward and actionable solutions.
  • Work with internal teams to understand user requirements and challenges.
  • Collaborate with teams or individuals from other disciplines, cultures and countries.
  • Escalate issues as required and communicate clearly and effectively at the appropriate level of detail with people from a wide range of technical abilities and backgrounds.
  • Produce clear and concise documentation such as detailed design specifications, white papers, wiring schematics and diagrams, and reports.
  • Understand and safeguard implementation of the Global Electrical Basis of Design (BoD) with constant auditing.
  • Drive standardization in the data center electrical designs.
  • Development of strategic solutions, which meet or exceed our quality requirements and fall within our budgetary requirements.
  • Capture requirements and turn aspirational company or customer goals into well-defined, achievable and testable specifications and solutions.
  • Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to, and during innovation and research and development projects.
  • Work with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify the appropriate electrical equipment.
  • Review and approval of critical equipment submittals including vendor Witness Tests.
  • Provide technical support on global Large Scale Events (LSE’s), including participation on deep dives, investigations and recommendations on mitigation plans.
  • Ability to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.
  • Maintain and host technical electrical forums to provide a collaborative environment for development of datacenter electrical systems.
  • Provide support and mentorship for the whole of the Data Center Engineering community.
  • Collaborating with product engineers and project engineers to incorporate new innovations into data center designs.
  • Develop key engineering details for first-of-a-kind designs.
  • Document and communicate new engineering standards and requirements for our larger engineering team.
  • Mentor engineers across the Design Engineering organization.
  • Data center electrical designs and collaboration with other disciplines and stakeholder teams to deliver results.
  • Creation of designs which meet or exceed our quality requirements and fall within our budgetary requirements.
  • Work with local agencies having jurisdiction to ensure compliance with federal, state and municipal requirements and building codes.
  • Review and approval of equipment submittals.
  • Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to, and during construction phases.
  • Work with commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical systems.
  • Ability to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.
  • Travel to sites for site review and work with onsite field engineers, as well as provide engineering evaluations, electrical systems audits, and startup as needed.
  • Having fun and offering creative, out of the box solutions.
