Summary
The Dudley Hotel (opening soon), a distinctive boutique beach-front hotel in Venice Beach, is seeking a seasoned and dedicated Maintenance Manager for a hybrid role to lead our efforts in maintaining and enhancing the mechanical integrity of our property facilities and equipment, as well as overseeing property-wide security. This multifaceted role requires a candidate with a strong background in hotel engineering, encompassing knowledge of equipment repair and troubleshooting, along with a comprehensive understanding of security protocols and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (including but not limited to…)
- Lead and manage all aspects of mechanical upkeep, maintenance, and preventative care for the property's facilities and equipment.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of the engineering and maintenance staff to ensure the efficient operation of the hotel's mechanical systems.
- Oversee property-wide security measures, including surveillance, access control, and emergency response protocols.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance program to ensure the longevity and efficiency of all mechanical equipment.
- Conduct regular inspections and assessments of HVAC systems, PTAC units, refrigerators, plumbing, door hardware, and other hotel equipment for repair and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with vendors and contractors to execute repairs and maintenance work, ensuring minimal disruption to guests.
- Manage the security team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure a safe environment for guests and staff.
- Develop and maintain security policies and procedures, including emergency response plans and training programs.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety codes and regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience as a hotel engineer or in a similar role is required.
- Knowledge of hotel equipment such as PTAC units, refrigerators, plumbing, door hardware, and HVAC systems, with the ability to diagnose issues and perform repairs.
- Strong organizational skills to document and report all issues as well as schedule maintenance
- Understanding of security protocols and best practices, with prior experience in property security.
- Familiarity with surveillance systems, access control, and emergency response procedures.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of relevant safety codes and regulations.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or engineering certifications are a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to perform physical tasks related to maintenance and repairs.
Mobility to move around the property and access various mechanical systems.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for emergencies or scheduled maintenance.
HOURS & COMPENSATION
This is a salaried position with a competitive compensation package based on experience and qualifications. The role requires a 40-hour workweek, with flexibility for on-call duties and emergency responses.
