Inventory Buyer / PlannerDepartment: ProcurementFLSA Status: ExemptReports To: Inventory Planning ManagerPosition SummaryThe Inventory Buyer/Planner plays a critical role in managing working capital through effective inventory planning and purchasing execution. This position is responsible for day-to-day purchasing activities, inventory optimization, and the application of inventory best practices to support growing distribution and production operations.This role partners closely with internal stakeholders to ensure inventory availability aligns with customer demand while minimizing excess and obsolescence. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, process discipline, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.Key ResponsibilitiesReview and analyze inventory levels and collaborate with warehouse and accounting teams on inventory administrationManage the purchase order lifecycle from creation through receiptMaintain and develop strong relationships with vendors and distribution partnersPartner with Strategic Sourcing and Category Management teams to resolve vendor issues, manage changes, and evaluate new product opportunitiesCoordinate material and product flow across the supply chain by communicating with internal departmentsPurchase and manage inventory across multiple product categories and locationsMaintain appropriate inventory levels based on established procurement metricsFollow up on late purchase orders and proactively communicate status updates to internal stakeholdersResolve backorders and support ongoing item and master data maintenancePerform additional duties as assignedRequired Skills and AbilitiesAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly ExcelStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skillsWorking knowledge of distribution, transportation, and supply chain processesExperience expediting priority orders and resolving vendor or logistics challengesProven ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environmentEducation and ExperienceExperience Requirements:3–5 years of experience managing inventory using analytical and statistical methodsDistribution or supply chain experience preferredEducation Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, finance, or a related field preferredAlternatively, a related degree combined with 3–5 years of relevant industry experiencePhysical RequirementsAbility to sit for extended periods while working at a computerAbility to lift up to 15 pounds occasionallyMust be able to perform the essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodationAbout the CompanyThe organization offers a wide range of in-stock packaging and shipping products with fast delivery.
