About the role 

We are seeking a Chief Technical Officer (CTO) to join our executive team and lead our platform and product development and deployment efforts as we scale our operations. The CTO will be responsible for overseeing technological development of a startup B2B marketplace platform. This role includes overseeing internal efforts and coordinating with external development partners to build and launch the platform within a specified timeframe. The CTO will ensure that business requirements are captured in detailed user stories, considering the long-term product vision, aiming for outstanding customer experience. In addition to monitoring development progress, the CTO will maintain the product backlog, test new features, and train platform users. The ideal candidate will have technical product management experience in technology startups and/or automotive technology sector and will also be a strategic thinker and an effective communicator. 


Key responsibilities 

  • Devise and implement the overarching technical strategy, vision and objectives for marketplace operations 
  • Drive the development of a B2B marketplace as the technical Product Owner, including backlog definition, user story creation, and testing 
  • Prioritize development tasks and manage change requests (scope & budget) in cooperation with an external platform provider 
  • Continuously improve user experience implementing relevant projects, including the implementation of customer engagement and retainment strategies 
  • Define and monitor platform performance KPIs, and manage the budget for the technical team 
  • Monitor latest technology trends and incorporate them into organization's tech stack and approach 
  • Identify technical risks and develop strategies to mitigate them (cybersecurity, data privacy, and technology obsolescence) 


Credentials, competencies & skills  

Minimum qualifications 

  • Experience launching new B2B products  
  • Strong product background 
  • Advanced technological skillset and a proven track record with agile software/platform development 
  • Ability to work with external partners on technological content  
  • Hands-on working attitude and adaptability in a constantly evolving environment 
  • Comprehensive understanding of automotive software and its applications, including both technical and practical aspects 
  • Strong management and leadership skills 
  • Ability to work under pressure, plan effectively and delegate tasks 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 


Preferred qualifications 

  • Master’s degree in computer science, software engineering or related discipline 
  • 10+ years of experience in a leading tech role, preferably in automotive technology or consulting  
  • Deep knowledge within AI and GenAI applications 
  • Location: Primary responsibilities in Detroit with flexible options available
