The primary role of the Project Manager is to lead the strategy and implementation activities for the end-to-end solution by taking into consideration the client’s business case, objectives, requirements, and constraints, utilizing the technology value systems as the foundation for solution development. The technical domain of the Project Manager includes all technical aspects of the solutions including integration, architecture, delivery, infrastructure, testing, technical standards, best practices, tools and technologies, security, and technical coordination of architecture, design, development, capacity planning, performance tuning, and technical administration. The Project Manager provides the following from an information and technical perspective: assessment work, definition of the client vision, business case development, and definition of the master plan.The Project Manager would be expected to be multi-disciplined (have breadth), and depth in solution alternatives and technical strategies. Also responsible to deliver the commitment set forth in the Statement of Work and to manage client expectations of responsibilities as project scope challenges are encountered.
Principle Activities
- Deliver a comprehensive project plan that accurately reflects the time, effort and cost of projects.
- Coordinate and track assigned project to keep them on time and budget to their completion.
- Track and manage any issues that impede project completion.
- Directs all project planning, progress tracking, and team coordination
- Collaborates with business / systems analyst, enterprise architect(s), and developers to align the solution architecture to the business case and the overall enterprise architecture.
- Takes into consideration the technology value system (performance, scalability, reliability, operability, flexibility, affordability, and auditability) when reviewing the high-level business and technical objectives and requirements for the solution.
Delivering the most value to the client based on their constraints and balancing that against our value system.
Ability to influence the client and help the client appreciate the trade-offs in solution design solutions
Ensure that the solution integrates with the legacy environment.
Manages Risk related to assigned projects
Identifying technical risks, communicating those risks and recommending solutions that mitigate the risk.
Anticipates project risks and formulates actions to address.
Enforces technical standards, security requirements, and architecture for the program/project.
Drives consensus around the technical components of the Vision and Roadmap to business and technologists.
Guides the design and implementation of the solution.
Oversees QA functions for the solution, including ensuring that system and integration test plans are developed and executed.
Oversees other deliverable artifacts needed for project implementation.
Promotes growth and knowledge transfer to the client.
Responsible to manage the software development life cycle to produce planned deliverables, timeline, and cost.
Determines proper staff assignments and ensures that staff has adequate training and education for the project role.
Does or directs all project planning, progress tracking, and team coordination.
Assists in the development and execution of a stakeholder communication plan
Manages a continuous stream of team actions and communication that adjusts the client's tactical expectations.
Responsible for coaching all assigned staff to set client expectations appropriate for each interaction level.
Captures, documents, and takes action to resolve all changes to project scope with the client sponsor.
Responsible for all deliverable quality.
Contributes to and acts on QA and risk assessment recommendations
Responsible to coordinate teams to operate cohesively.
Ensures that client training and/or education objectives are met.
Responsible for directing team leads to calculate estimate-to-complete status.
Responsible for two-way inter team communication.
Writes and delivers weekly status to the client that summarizes team level detail and sates schedule and budget status, projects milestones and date status, separates and escalates significant issues, and informs the client of resource changes.
Ensures that a formal weekly or bi-weekly status meeting takes place.
Develop and maintain project plans
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or Technical Field, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years related experience
- Industry knowledge
- Strong Customer relationship management skills and ability to collaborate effectively with various functional groups and business units
- Good Communication Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Project
- Efficient in Microsoft Office and Visio
- Ability to work within a team environment to achieve objectives
- Responsibilities may require evening and weekend work in response to needs of assigned projects
